- OnePlus looks set to ditch Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC’s

Since the OnePlus One, OnePlus has consistently used Snapdragon processors in all their smartphones, including the Nord line of devices as they Qualcomm does provide some of the best processors in the Android world. However, as of late, Snapdragon chips have been getting more pricey due to 5G which has resulted in higher priced devices. A report from Android Central and Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station suggests that OnePlus might launch a device with the Dimensity 1200 chipset (MT6893). Back in March, Android Central reported that the OnePlus Nord 2 will launch with a Dimensity 1200 chip inside so this new leak does lineup with what Android Central reported. The Dimensity 1200 would be a pretty solid upgrade over the Nord’s Snapdragon 765G for the most part. It packs an octa-core CPU (four Cortex-A78 cores, four Cortex-A55 cores), a maximum refresh rate of 168Hz, software-driven ray tracing support, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and 5G+5G dual-SIM support. It will also help OnePlus save on the cost price which will in turn hopefully help reduce the launch price of the phone. Only time will tell if OnePlus is going to ditch a Snapdragon processor but everything right now seems to point towards it.
2. Google and Samsung partner up for the new WearOS

Before Google I/O, Google teased a big change to WearOS and we finally know what it is, they are partnering with Samsung. Samsung smartwatches have always been using TizenOS, an operating system separate from WearOS as WearOS has always been deemed as an inferior operating system. With this new partnership, Google and Samsung are planning to focus mainly on battery life, performance and the app ecosystem. There will also be a visual overhaul according to Google and software features from FitBit will be introduced as well. This is all we know right now about this new WearOS and it can be expected to launch with next Galaxy Watch later this year. We’ll likely see the Galaxy Watch 4 run Wear OS instead of Tizen. This collaboration is also pretty interesting as it has the capability to actually compete with Apple’s WatchOS and the Apple Watch.
