Nothing is once again engaging its passionate community with the launch of its second Community Edition Project, this time focused on the new Phone (3a). Following the resounding success of last year’s initiative for the Phone (2a) Plus, which resulted in a popular glow-in-the-dark edition, Nothing is offering its dedicated fanbase the chance to directly influence the design, accessories, software, and marketing of their upcoming mid-range device.
Four Creative Briefs Open for Submissions
The company announced today that participants can compete across four distinct briefs: Hardware Design, Accessory Design, Software Design, and Marketing Campaign. This multi-faceted approach allows individuals with diverse talents and creative visions to contribute to the Phone (3a)’s development.
Details of the Community Edition Project
Aspiring designers have until 23rd April to submit their groundbreaking ideas. The specifics of each brief are as follows:
- Hardware Design: Participants are tasked with envisioning the new look and feel of the Phone (3a), potentially influencing its aesthetics and physical form.
- Accessory Design: This brief calls for creative concepts for an exclusive collectible accessory that will be bundled with the Phone (3a) Community Edition, adding a unique touch for early adopters.
- Software Design: Unleashing their digital artistry, participants will design new UI elements such as wallpapers, widgets, and icon packs, contributing to the software experience of the special edition.
- Marketing Campaign: This challenge requires participants to develop a comprehensive and creative marketing proposal, outlining key visuals, a memorable launch moment, or a compelling event to generate buzz around the Phone (3a) Community Edition.
Winners to Collaborate and Win Cash Prize
The stakes are high, with the winners of each of the four briefs receiving the incredible opportunity to collaborate directly with the Nothing team to bring their winning concepts to life for the final Phone (3a) Community Edition. In addition to this invaluable experience, each winner will also walk away with a £1,000 cash prize.
Building on the Success of the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition
This initiative marks the second Community Edition Project from Nothing, following the success of the 2024 project for the Phone (2a) Plus. In that earlier project, the community played a key role in designing a special glow-in-the-dark edition, which quickly became a massive hit. As a result, the limited run of 1,000 units sold out in just 15 minutes. Furthermore, the project earned a prestigious Gold iF Design Award, highlighting the impact of community-driven design.
