A few days ago, we reported that the OnePlus Nord family will be getting a new addition, the Nord CE and the device has finally arrived so here is everything you need to know about the new OnePlus Nord CE.
The Nord CE (Core Edition) is a device that acts as a counterpart to the original Nord. The CE adds a more premium camera setup and according to OnePlus, just focuses on the basics of a smartphone. The device comes equipped with a 6.4-inch, 1080p AMOLED screen and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also has a headphone jack and is only 7.9mm thick which makes it OnePlus’ slimmest design since the OnePlus 6T.
In the camera department, this is where the device gets an upgrade compared to the original Nord. The Nord CE has a higher resolution 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP monochrome lens. Many were hoping for OnePlus to bundle in a telephoto lens but unfortunately we will have to settle for a monochrome lens. The device has a 4,500 mAh battery and also supports Warp Charge 30T that will charge the device up to 70% in about 30 minutes.
The device does also come with certain downgrades when compared to the original Nord. The Nord CE uses a Snapdragon 750G chip, which is a less powerful chip in comparison to the 765G that is available on the Nord. Another downgrade is the front facing camera, which on the Nord CE is a single 16MP sensor and not a dual camera setup like on the Nord.
The phone starts at €299 for the 8GB/128GB variant and €369 for the 12GB/256GB variant. It is also available in a new Blue Void colour that is supposedly fingerprint resistant. The device is mainly aimed at the European, Asian and Indian markets. It will go on sale on June 21 2021 and will launch in an initial 47 countries. The Nord CE implies that OnePlus is shifting their focus to back-to-basics handsets which is probably why it is named the Core Edition. This is not a sequel to the OnePlus Nord, but a phone that is meant for people who just want a good overall day to day experience.
