Realme are gearing up to launch their highest end phone yet and have described it as a “flagship killer”, a play on what OnePlus used to call their devices. The Realme GT is a high end device that starts at just $450 and packs a fast Qualcomm processor as well as a smooth OLED display.

In terms of design, the GT has a long glossy black panel on the back which breaks up the yellow mock-leather finish. This design language is very reminiscent of sports cars which seems to be what Realme were going for, given the name of the device as well. There is however a large chin below the screen which can be the tell sign that this is not an expensive flagship.

Unlike OnePlus that has now moved on to more expensive flagships, Realme have, so far, stuck to their roots with many of their devices such as the X50 Pro offering amazing performance for the price and this continues with the Realme GT. Below are some of the key specs of Realme’s new device:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor
  • 6.4-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED screen
  • 64-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel ultrawide, 2-megapixel macro, 16-megapixel selfie
  • 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging
  • 128GB or 256GB of storage
  • 8GB or 12GB or RAM
  • Optical in-display fingerprint sensor
  • Headphone jack

The camera system, while a quad camera setup, may not hold up great against the top of the line flagships but should provide decent photos based on Realme’s track record. There is also no wireless charging which is not really a surprise as Realme has never featured wireless charging in their devices. Other than that, the Realme GT seems to be really good value for the price.

That said, the pricing is a little complicated. The €369 8GB/128GB version will only be sold on AliExpress from June 21st to 25th. The official list price of the 12GB/256GB version is €599 (~$725), but Realme tells The Verge that the actual price will be €549 (~$665) on the company’s website, as was previously revealed. You’ll also be able to save further on Amazon’s Prime Day on June 21st, where it’ll be available for €499 (~$605).
