Leica is a German camera maker that has worked with many smartphone manufacturers, namely Huawei, but have never launched their own smartphone, until now. Today, they just launched the Leitz Phone 1, the first smartphone made entirely by Leica.

The phone was announced at a Tokyo press event and it seems familiar to many people. It has a single camera on the back which is a huge 20MP 1-inch sensor. This is the biggest sensor that can be on a phone. It also has a magnetic circular lens cap.

The front features a 12.6MP selfie camera. There is also a 6.6-inch OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip and has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also comes with a 5000mAh battery. These specs are exactly the same as the Sharp Aquos R6 minus the shape of the camera module.

Currently, the phone is only available through Softbank in Japan and there is no word on global availability.
