Apple Unveils Apple Watch Ultra 3: A New Benchmark for Sports and Adventure

Apple Reveals Apple Watch Ultra 3

Apple today announced the release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the latest model in its line of smartwatches. The device, intended for athletes and adventurers, features a display, a 42-hour battery life, and updated health and fitness features, including a new sleep score system and an AI-powered workout companion.

The new Apple Watch Ultra 3’s screen is 24% larger than previous models, with thinner bezels and LTPO3 and wide-angle OLED display technology. This technology allows for a 1Hz refresh rate in always-on mode, which enables a ticking seconds hand to be visible without raising the wrist.

Battery life offers up to 42 hours of daily use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. For continuous outdoor workout tracking with full GPS and heart rate readings, the watch delivers up to 20 hours of battery life. A 15-minute fast charge provides up to 12 hours of battery life.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 introduces a new “Sleep Score” feature, which reports on the quality of a user’s sleep. The score is based on factors such as duration, bedtime consistency, and time spent in different sleep stages. The feature was developed and tested using over 5 million nights of sleep data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study.

Just like in the Apple Watch Series 11, the Ultra comes with a new fitness experience called “Workout Buddy” that utilises Apple Intelligence. It analyses a user’s workout data and history to provide personalised, spoken motivation during a workout. Additionally, the Workout app has been updated with a new layout for customising workout views and routines.

For connectivity in areas with weak coverage, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 includes an algorithm that engages two system antennas simultaneously to boost cellular reception.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is made with 40% recycled content, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 100% recycled titanium in the case. The case itself is manufactured using a 3D printing process that uses half the raw material of previous generations. The device is manufactured with 100% renewable electricity.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 starts at RM3,699 and is available in natural or black titanium. New bands are also available, including a Trail Loop with reflective yarn and new colours for the Ocean Band and Alpine Loop. The device will be available to customers in Malaysia starting Friday, 19 September.

The watchOS 26 update, which brings these new features to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and other compatible models, will be available on 15 September.
