When LG decided to shut down their mobile division, the company still had their next line of smartphones in development. Those devices will now never see a mass release to the public but LG did sell a limited number of these devices to their employees and now a new video unboxing the Velvet 2 Pro has surfaced on YouTube.

The video, which was published by Korean channel Phonehub, gives us a better look at LG’s unreleased 2021 flagship and confirms several key specs. The box includes two cases, a cable but no charger. There is however a second box which does include a charger and an additional cable but it is unclear if LG intended to sell the phone with two boxes.
As for the phone, the design of the phone is similar to its predecessor. The most noticeable difference is the prominence of the three “water drop” camera humps. The backplate of the device is made from glass. On the front of the device, there is a hole punch selfie camera instead of a notch and the Velvet 2 Pro also has pressure pads in place of volume buttons and a power button on top. There is the normal USB-C port and speaker grille at the bottom but there is no headphone jack.
Phonehub also confirms that the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 888 processor and the phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is also a 120Hz 6.8-inch display, an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 64MP primary lens. There is also an ultra-wide and a 3x telephoto lens. The phone packs a 4500mAh battery.
Pricing for the Velvet 2 Pro will always remain unknown and it will always be a what if device. It would have been interesting to see LG still in the smartphone business.
