New iPhone SE with 5G On Track For 2022 Launch

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report today that reiterated expectations for the next-gen iPhone SE. In the report, he says that the two big upgrades will be 5G and an upgraded processor.

Back in March, he predicted that the new iPhone SE would launch in 2022 and in this report he reiterated that the device is on track for a first half of 2022 launch. 5G is already available on the iPhone 12 line so the SE was expected to get the upgrade as well.

This is a big deal as it would be Apple’s first entry-priced iPhone with the tech inside. Kuo also states that the device will have a similar design to the current 4.7-inch SE and the only major change would be the processor upgrade to accommodate 5G.

There were rumours back in March of Apple launching a an iPhone SE Plus but this newest report has no mention of that. The iPhone SE Plus was supposedly going to get a larger display and keep the Touch ID power button.

There is no specific date of when Apple will launch this upgraded iPhone SE but the first half of 2022 would put it during Apple’s Spring Event.
