[Giveaway] OPPO Enco X Earbuds Full Review: VERY Suprised! 😲

So OPPO has been releasing lots of earbuds recently and out of all the earbuds that I was really eager to test was this OPPO Enco X, since I heard lots of great things about it and it also comes with a rather decent price at only RM699 with Active Noise Cancellation and other premium features, like multi-device pairing as well.

So in this video, we shall find out if it is all hype or if these earbuds are really good for their price. And stay till the end as I am giving a brand new one to you all as well, so don’t miss out!

Unboxing

First, let’s unbox the earbuds.

The OPPO Enco X’s box comes in white, with the OPPO logo and Dynaudio on the top left, the visuals of the earbuds in the middle and “OPPO Enco X” down below.

Then at the back, you will find some of the specs and features of the earbuds over there.

At the side of the box, is the color variant that you choose, which mine is in white. It is also available in black and blue.

Sliding the box cover reveals another black-colored box, which I have to be honest to say that I kind of love this box more than the actual cover.

Opening that reveals a cardboard sleeve, where in there you will find the Manuals. Underneath, there is the Earbuds Case, the extra ear tips in size S and L, and the USB-A to USB-C cable.

Build Quality

Alright next, let’s look at the build quality.

First of all these earbuds are IP54 dust and water-resistant and looking at the charging case, it was nice and compact, which is made out of a plastic clamshell build.

It was pretty light with the earbuds inside. It had a glossy finish which if you watch my channel frequently, you would know my gripe with glossy finish because of it being a bit more slippery than a matte finish.

But because there is this little silver matte lining around the charging case, it was not entirely slippery, so that was good.

In front, there is the charging indicator, and on the right, there is the pairing button. Then below there is a USB-C charging port to charge the earbuds and the case of course.

At the back at the hinge of the charging case, there is a co-created with Dynaudio where there was a frame with a similar finish to the side silver matte lining.

The hinge was pretty solid and it opened and closed the charging case pretty nicely without making it feel cheap.

Then on the earbuds themselves, it is stored in the changing case magnetically where the magnets did hold them pretty well even if you put the earbuds upside down.

As for the form factor, OPPO went with the shorter stalk kind of design, instead of a rounded design, which is a more preferred option for me but I do prefer this shorter stalk look compared to those long toothbrush looking kind of design.

Like the charging case, this also has a whole lot of a glossy finish, so you might run into times where if your hands are sweaty or wet, it can be harder to take them off from the charging case.

Then, there is the air vent towards the side which helps in relieving ear pressure when it’s in the ears.

I love that tiny little touch that OPPO did by putting the right and the left indicator on where the magnetic connector was, that was very nice attention to detail.

Then you can kind of see the speaker grills when you look towards the ear tips and speaking of which, it was interesting on how the ear tips was pretty wide, hence giving a better hold in your ears, so it totally balances out the glossy surface, when it in the ears so it won’t have any issues falling off your ears. For me, the earbuds fit pretty well with the medium-sized silicone ear tips, which came pre-installed.

Pairing

So the initial pairing process is super simple and it has Bluetooth 5.2 and it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and there were no connection issues at all.

It will immediately go into pairing mode where as soon as you take out the earbuds from the charging case, then just turn on your Bluetooth on your phone and look for the earbuds in your Bluetooth settings and you are done.

You will find the battery percentage popping out there as well and even at the Bluetooth devices notification bar as well, and once you have paired the earbuds, in the future, it pairs to your phone immediately.

Now just in case you want to pair the earbuds to maybe another phone, your PC or laptop, just press and hold the pairing control button on the charging case when both earbuds are in the charging case again to initiate the pairing process again.

Playback Controls & App Controls

As for the playback controls, it is all done by a double tap or touch-control and slide control as well.

Now, I like that there is no single tap function because this avoids accidental taps, which tends to happen with other earbuds, especially when I am running or doing weight training

So if you wanna pause your media playback, you will need to just take either one of the earbuds from your ears.

What’s sweet is that for OPPO devices, you can adjust all of these actions accordingly under the Bluetooth Settings.

But for non-OPPO android smartphones, you can download the HeyMelody app, the app is also available on iOS BUT at this point in time, the app only supports the Enco Free2, the Enco Play, and the Enco Air, so it was only working as Bluetooth earbuds instead.

Now since there are customized controls for each, so no point in me going through all of the playback controls, but in a nutshell, the double-tap functions work for music controls.

Triple taping is for Voice assistant, then there is the Slide Control which works for volume control.

And I was a little skeptical about how the slide control was, as this could either be good or absolutely bad, but the good news is that it had very great responsiveness.

And mind you, some other premium earbuds which cost way much more, don’t allow volume adjustments, so kudos to OPPO for not ONLY having it but to make it work very well too.

Then there is Touch and holding the stem of the earbuds to switch between the ANC modes and the transparency modes as well, which you can select either two of the four options over there.

Finally, there is a long touch and holding of the stem which works to switch between devices.

Yet again, for earbuds within this price range, it was very pleasing to know!

And then there is a feature for some people who don’t know if they have gotten the right ear tips fitting.

Through the Earbuds Fit Test, where it will play a sound to make sure that the earbuds and the ear tips fit well, which will not only be beneficial to get the right fit to ensure the optimum results for sound quality but of course for passive and active noise cancellation as well.

Sound Quality

So before we go into the ANC options, Let’s first talk about the overall sound quality,

Now as seen on the box and right behind the charging case, the OPPO Enco X is co-created together with the leading Danish HiFi brand Dynaudio who has been in the audio industry since 1977.

From the speaker’s hardware perspective, it has a coaxial dual driver which again is something usually available for a way more expensive option, that promises better handling of high frequencies and balancing out the middle and low frequencies.

This is also because it has a magnetic balanced driver which usually is more apparent to boost the overall vocal and music clarity.

In terms of the codecs, it has LHDC Wireless Transmission, which also has better detail than the traditional SBC and AAC transmission but that is only available on selected OPPO’s Find X or Reno devices.

Okie, all of these MAY sound like alien language to you but in a nutshell, the amount of hardware and software specs for this is quite impressive but of course, the REAL question is how does this translate to real-world listening, especially when it comes to music?

Just so you all know, I left the EQ at Dynaudio default for all of my music listenings.

And firstly I was pleasantly surprised with two major elements of the earbuds, firstly it gets pretty loud, which was sweet, and the bass was nice and well rounded, there was no excessive booming or overpowering of the bass.

The overall vocal clarity was nice, did sound nice on the lower to the higher mids.

In general listening, I found that the high frequencies cut through nicely without making any annoying hisses, especially for the high-frequency snare hits.

In terms of genres, I feel that it’s very good for the top 40s music with the likes pop, EDM, from something like Billie Ellish to her brother Finneas and into some songs from James Arthur for that pop sound then proceed to some EDM goodness from Daft Punk and Astral.

As for my favorite genres for rock and metal, I was also surprised because they balanced out the over sound very well, when I was listening to Avenged Sevenfold and Slipknot. Rest In Peace, Joey Jordison.

So I would say that this was quite an all-rounder of earbuds when it comes to listening to any type of genre, where it does sound like it is good in a particular genre but has the perfect balance of all.

And I have to say my overall listening duration on the earbuds both for music, watching videos and the occasional gaming didn’t make me have any ear fatigue so that for me is surely a huge plus since it is only 4.8 grams hence you will barely notice that it is in your ears.

And in terms of latency, no issues when it comes to watching videos and no apparent delay on gaming when playing COD Mobile as well, due to the Binaural Low Latency Bluetooth Transmission.

BUT again I must stress that these kinds of earbuds are not usually for competitive gaming where casual gaming would be totally fine.

Active Noise Cancellation

As for the active noise cancellation, it was pretty decent to get rid of fan or wind noises, not completely but instead removing more of the mid to lower frequencies like a humming air cond, but it does do very well for their frequencies but it does block some of them.

So I would say that ANC on this was just decent and definitely not the “best” feature but still very much good for its price.

There is a regular and maximum setting, as seen in the app, which I left it a maximum for obvious reasons as mentioned earlier.

The transparency mode was also good to bring out the overall background sound, to create better awareness of your surrounding environment but again this is still something which is not worth shouting about, and it’s nice that it’s there.

Microphone Quality

So I have tested the microphone quality, and what’s great is there are three microphones with noise cancellation, an adaptive filter, and wind detection as well.

Firstly from a listener’s perspective, it sounded nice and clear.

Then from the other listeners’ perspective, it was clear, without any weird digitizing sound, and here is a microphone test, during several scenarios.

Battery

As for the battery, I got an average of 4 hours and 45 mins to 5 hours or so with ANC turned on and volume at maximum compared to the claimed 5 and half hours probably due to me putting the volume at maximum and changing between devices so that for me was still great.

Some may say that that’s not much battery life, but considering all the premium features and the very appealing price I was totally fine with that.

The charging case can charge up to 3 to 4 times, again depending on your usage, and it also has wireless charging, which I appreciate more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I am actually quite impressed with what OPPO has done here with these Enco X.

I love how this sounds equally good for ALL types of genres and not only sticking to a particular genre.

Although it’s pretty glossy, BUT once you put it in your ears, not only it stays in place but you will barely notice that it is there, making it easy to wear for hours.

And finally with features like Multi-Device smartphone pairing for Android, volume controls, and decent noise cancellation and transparency mode.

I would totally recommend this especially within this RM699 price factor.
