iPhone 17 Launch Event Rumours Swirl: September 9th Tipped for Unveiling
Speculation surrounding the highly anticipated iPhone 17 family continues to mount, with recent whispers from within German carrier circles pointing to an exact launch date: 9th September. This latest rumour refines earlier predictions from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a well-known authority on Apple-related news, who had previously indicated the event would take place during the week of 8th September.

Gurman’s initial insights suggested 8th, 9th, or 10th September as potential dates, ruling out 12th September due to Apple’s avoidance of Friday launches and 11th September for obvious reasons. The new leak, attributed to unnamed sources, significantly narrows the window.
Following the grand unveiling, Apple is expected to make the new devices available to consumers on 19th September. This aligns with Apple’s traditional release pattern, where devices hit the initial batch of markets roughly ten days after the launch event.
The new iPhone 17 lineup is rumoured to include the standard iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. A notable addition to the family is the Air model, which is poised to replace the “Plus” model. The “Plus” variant has reportedly been the weakest performer in terms of sales within the iPhone family, prompting Apple to introduce a new, ultra-thin, and lightweight alternative.
While the iPhone 17 Air’s sleek profile and reduced weight are expected to be its primary selling points, sources suggest these design choices may come at the expense of battery life and camera performance. The success of the “Air” model in the market, compared to its “Plus” predecessor, remains to be seen.
