Apple Unveils iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: The Most Powerful Pro Models Ever

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, introducing new hardware and design changes for its high-end smartphone lineup. The new models feature a redesigned internal architecture, the A19 Pro chip, and an upgraded camera system.

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max feature a new design built around a lightweight aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminium alloy unibody. This new chassis includes a laser-welded vapour chamber, which Apple says is designed to improve heat dissipation and allow for higher sustained performance. The company claims the new A19 Pro chip enables up to 40 percent better sustained performance than the previous generation.

The camera system on both models has been updated. The phones now have three 48MP cameras: Main, Ultra Wide, and a new Telephoto. Apple highlights the new Telephoto camera’s tetraprism design and larger sensor, which provides up to 8x optical zoom. The devices also introduce an 18MP “Center Stage” front camera that offers a wider field of view for photos and videos. For video professionals, the new iPhones are the first from Apple to support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock.
In terms of durability, Apple is using its Ceramic Shield 2 on both the front and back of the phones for the first time, stating it provides improved scratch and crack resistance. The Super Retina XDR display is available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, with a claimed peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits. The phones are available in deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver.

The new models will ship with iOS 26, which includes new Apple Intelligence features for text and visual processing. Apple has also confirmed that certain regions, including the U.S. and Canada, will receive eSIM-only versions of the phones, which the company says will allow for a larger battery and additional hours of video playback.

The iPhone 17 Pro starts at RM5,499 for the 256GB model, with options for 512GB and 1TB at RM6,499 and RM7,499, respectively. The iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at RM5,999 for the 256GB model, with additional capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and for the first time, 2TB at RM6,999, RM7,999 and a whopping RM9,999.
All models will be available for pre-order beginning 12 September, 8 PM Malaysian time, with availability beginning from 19 September.
