New HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra Takes Top Camera Phone Crown
The HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra has officially claimed the top spot in DXOMARK’s global camera phone rankings, achieving a total score of 175 points. This new ranking positions the HUAWEI flagship as the new benchmark for mobile photography and videography, dethroning the previous champion, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra.
According to the comprehensive review, the Pura 80 Ultra excelled across multiple photographic categories, scoring an impressive 180 points for still photos and 166 for video. The device was specifically recognised as the best for main camera pictures, bokeh effects, and telephoto images. Its performance in portrait, outdoor, indoor, and low-light photography was also highlighted as a key strength.
DXOMARK praised several key attributes of the phone’s camera system, including its wide dynamic range, accurate exposure, and excellent colour rendering, which produced natural skin tones even in challenging lighting. The Pura 80 Ultra was also lauded for its high levels of detail in both photos and videos, effective autofocus, and low noise levels. The dual-telephoto module was noted for its long-range shooting capabilities, and video stabilisation was described as highly effective.
While the review was overwhelmingly positive, some minor weaknesses were mentioned. DXOMARK’s experts observed occasional slight instabilities in exposure and colour, as well as some unnatural textures in extremely difficult light conditions. The report also noted the presence of minor artefacts in video mode, such as hue shift and ghosting.
The new rankings place the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra at the peak, followed by the OPPO Find X8 Ultra (169 points) in second place. The Vivo X200 Ultra holds the third position, with the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max rounding out the top five.
