Nothing Reveals Nothing Phone (3) Powerhouse: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Confirmed for July 1st Launch
Nothing is actively building anticipation for its “first-ever true flagship smartphone,” the Phone (3), and will fully unveil it on 1st July in London. The event will also mark the debut of the Nothing Headphone (1), the brand’s first over-ear audio offering.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 at the Core
Nothing officially confirmed in a recent post on X that the Phone (3) will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. While not the absolute top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite, the 8s Gen 4 represents the highest-performing chipset that Nothing has ever utilised. Analysts expect this strategic choice to balance premium performance with a potentially more accessible price point. Nothing has highlighted significant performance improvements over the Phone (2), with Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, citing a 36% increase in CPU performance, an 88% boost in GPU, and a 60% enhancement in NPU capabilities.

A New Era for Rear Panel Design: Dot-Matrix Display
In a significant departure from its established aesthetic, the Nothing Phone (3) is anticipated to forego the iconic Glyph LED lights on its rear. Instead, reliable rumours and recent teasers suggest the device will feature a highly customizable dot-matrix display. This innovative shift promises greater personalisation and functionality for rear-facing notifications and interactions.
Enhanced Photography and Audio Debut
We expect Nothing to equip the Phone (3) with a triple rear camera setup, similar to the configuration on the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. However, the company is likely to use superior sensors on the flagship model to deliver an elevated photography experience, potentially adding a periscope telephoto lens.
Accompanying the Phone (3) at the July 1st event, meanwhile, will be the Nothing Headphone (1). Notably, these will be Nothing’s first over-ear headphones, developed in collaboration with British audio specialist KEF, thereby signalling Nothing’s expansion into new audio categories. According to leaked information, the Headphone (1) will be a premium offering, most likely featuring Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
