OnePlus 15 Reportedly Looking to Drop Hasselblad Branding
The highly anticipated successor to the OnePlus 13, speculated to launch as the “OnePlus 15” due to cultural sensitivities surrounding the number 4, is reportedly set to make a significant break from tradition by not featuring Hasselblad-tuned cameras. This shift, while previously rumoured for the OnePlus 13 but ultimately not realised, now appears more likely for the upcoming flagship.
Departure from Hasselblad and New Imaging Engine
According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 15 will instead integrate a new in-house imaging engine. This move mirrors recent strategies by Oppo, with its Find X8 and Find X8 Ultra in China already leveraging Oppo’s proprietary “Lumo” imaging engine. This suggests a deepening synergy within the larger Oppo-OnePlus ecosystem, potentially consolidating imaging technology under a shared banner.
Display Changes: Flat Screen and Resolution Adjustment
Beyond the imaging system, the leak also sheds light on several key specifications for the OnePlus 15. Rumours suggest that the device will feature a flat 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. This marks a notable change from the OnePlus 13’s 6.82-inch quad-curved AMOLED screen with a 2K resolution. While some might view the resolution adjustment as a downgrade, the adoption of a flat display could appeal to users who prioritise practicality and ease of use in daily scenarios, much like the rationale behind devices such as the OnePlus 13R.
Camera, Performance, and Durability Enhancements
In terms of optics, expect the OnePlus 15 to retain a versatile triple 50-megapixel rear camera setup, comprising a primary sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto lens. Powering the device will reportedly be Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip, anticipated to debut at the Snapdragon Summit in September.
Earlier leaks have also painted an impressive picture of the OnePlus 15’s endurance and durability. The company claims it packed the largest battery ever seen in a flagship phone, potentially exceeding 7,000mAh, along with support for rapid 100W wired and wireless charging. It also expects the device to boast an IP69 rating for robust dust and water resistance, matching the resilience of the OnePlus 13.
Anticipated Launch and Global Availability
The OnePlus 15 is projected to make its debut in China by the end of this year, with a subsequent global release in early 2026.
