Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8 Update with Advanced AI
Samsung has officially begun rolling out One UI 8 to a range of its Galaxy devices. The update aims to bring advanced AI capabilities to more users, starting with the new Galaxy S25 series and gradually reaching other eligible models later this year.

One UI 8 introduces several new features centred on what Samsung calls “multimodal AI.” This technology combines visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence to streamline daily tasks. A key addition is Gemini Live, which allows users to interact with AI that can understand what they are seeing in real-time. Another feature, an updated Circle to Search with Google, now offers in-the-moment help for games and can provide on-screen, real-time translations of text in various languages.
New Security and Personalisation Tools

The update also focuses on personalisation and security. One UI 8 is designed to recognise user context and provide proactive suggestions to support daily routines. This includes Now Brief, which gives personalised daily updates on traffic, reminders, and media recommendations. The Now Bar on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow now shows real-time app activity and media player progress.
To protect user data, the new OS includes Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), a security architecture that creates encrypted, app-specific storage for sensitive information. Knox Matrix takes security a step further by automatically signing devices out of a Samsung Account if it detects serious risks. Additionally, Secure Wi-Fi has been upgraded with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to improve protection on public networks.
Optimised for Diverse Devices

One UI 8 has a user experience (UX) optimised for different device form factors. The AI Results View displays results from AI features in a separate split or floating window, ensuring the original content remains visible. On devices with larger screens, such as tablets, Multi Window now allows users to easily drag and drop AI-generated content like images and text.
The update also introduces a feature called Audio Eraser, which can proactively remove unwanted background noise from video and audio with a single tap. Additionally, it offers a new customizable clock design that adapts to a user’s wallpaper, ensuring visibility without disrupting the image. Other new tools include Portrait Studio, which can create studio-like pet portraits, and Call Captions, which instantly converts voices into text during phone calls.
Malaysia Rollout Details
In Malaysia, the One UI 8 rollout will begin with the Galaxy S25 series on 18 September. It will then be deployed to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6 on 25 September. Subsequent devices, including the Galaxy S23 and S22 series, will receive the update in early October.
