Samsung Set To Unveil Their Vision For The “Future Of Smartwatches”

At Google I/O earlier this year, Google announced a new version of Wear OS and that they will be working with Samsung to develop the platform. Now, Samsung has announced a virtual MWC event next week which will have smartwatch related announcements.

Samsung revealed that it will be holding a virtual MWC event on June 28 at 7:15 PM CET (1:15 PM ET). The firm says it’ll be “showcasing how the Galaxy ecosystem of connected devices is set to provide people with even greater possibilities for enriching their lifestyles.”

This is a rather vague announcement from Samsung but the next line of the announcement does explicitly mention smartwatches.

“Samsung will also be unveiling its vision for the future of smartwatches at the event with new opportunities for both developers and users designed to deliver a new era of smartwatch experiences.”

Samsung are expected to reveal the Galaxy Watch 4 soon which will probably pack the new Wear OS. Since the event is smartwatch focused, the Galaxy Watch 4 is expected to make an appearance at the event.

The watch and its variants have also seemingly passed through the FCC, lending more weight to an imminent launch. Samsung also says it’ll be talking about the “latest security enhancements and innovations” at the event. We’re guessing this is related to Knox and other software features, as evident by the Knox logo in the invite image above.
