Earlier this year, Apple announced an update to the iMac line which is now powered by the ARM based M1 chip and also comes in a wide range of new colours. The new computer is a slim, all in one display propped up on a stand but there might be an odd manufacturing defect.
YouTuber iPhonedo has noticed that his M1 iMac had a crooked display. He used a ruler and confirmed that one side measured 7.6 centimetres to the desk and the other side measured in at 8 centimetres to the desk. When you look for it, it is pretty noticeable and you definitely cannot unsee it afterwards. You can check out his video below.

iPhonedo was not the only one to spot this problem as two users on Apple’s support community and a Redditor have both reported a crooked display as well. MacRumours have also reported that their testing unit has a slightly crooked display.
It is unclear exactly how many people are affected by this but the number is probably not that big. Over time, there might be more users who complain about these issues after checking their own computer. At the time of writing, there has been no official statement from Apple regarding this issue.
The cause of the problem could have something to do with the stand and seven screws holding the display but that is pure speculation as there is no word on the exact cause yet. Do check your iMac as soon as you unbox it and if there is a defect, be sure to report it to Apple.
