In a beta release of iOS and tvOS earlier this month, an unannounced pair of Beats wireless earbuds, rumoured to be called the Beats Studio Buds started popping up. While a leak in a beta is pretty normal for earphones, photos of athlete LeBron James wearing the earphones have been spotted which suggest the earphones could be available soon.

The Beats Studio Buds have appeared under FCC filings in the US which is a sign that it could go on sale very soon. The filings also provide a look at the shape of the buds though a few diagrams. MySmartPrice also provided photos that look similar to the FCC diagrams and while they could not authenticate it, it does match up with previous leaks. On Wednesday evening, LeBron James posted a few photos on Instagram which seem to be our first look at the earbuds in the wild. Upon first glance, it is difficult to tell what earphones he’s wearing but if inspected closely, it does look an awful like the photos of the Beats Studio Buds.

The photos are still up on LeBrons Instagram page so it seems to be a calculated move if this is indeed the Beats Studio Buds which indicates that Apple could announce them at any moment.

Many renders have already been released of the upcoming XM4’s but thanks to WinFuture, we now have a clearer look at the new Sony earphones and some of its key specs.

The report showed off the earbuds in a dull silver and matte black option both with gold accents which seem to match previous renders of the device. It also said that the earphones will pack ANC enabled by the Sony V1 processor and the chipset also supports LDAC and Hi-Res Audio. “Precise Voice Pickup” technology may also feature, which will allow users to adjust companion app settings via voice commands. The battery life of the earbuds is also rumoured to be longer. It could last up to 8 hours with ANC on and up to 12 hours with ANC off. The case will also supposedly pack up to 2 full charges and can be topped up wirelessly or through the USB-C port. The earbuds are also set to be IPX4 rated which protects them against sweat, light rain and splashes.

That is all that is known so far and there is still no word of when it will launch but Sony might announce them pretty soon.
