The M1 chip has been the biggest surprise so far of the year with Apple exceeding peoples expectations. Right now there are a few M1 devices in Apples lineup that include, the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac and the new iPad Pro. However, Bloomberg is now reporting that Apple are readying a whole slate of Macs using next-gen versions of the company’s in-house chips.
Mark Gruman, a reliable Apple leaker reports that Apple are currently reading their next set of in house chips to be released with a 14-inch and a 16-inch MacBook Pro and it will be ready as soon as this summer. This is supposedly a redesigned MacBook Pro that is set to feature the return of the SD card reader and MagSafe charging as well. This is a much welcomed design change as an SD Card reader is what many users have been asking for since the initial design refresh back in 2015.
Mark Gruman also reports that Apple plans to release “a revamped MacBook Air, new low-end MacBook Pro and an all-new Mac Pro workstation.” A higher-end Mac mini and larger iMac are also reportedly in the works, with all of the new machines boasting chips. These new chips are supposed to outshine the M1 chip by quite a bit according to Gruman.
Apples new chips are set two come in two variants currently codenamed “Jade C-Chop” and “Jade C-Die”. The M1 Chips currently have four high-performance cores, four energy-efficient cores, and eight graphics cores but the new chips are rumoured to have eight high-performance cores, two energy-efficient cores, and either 16 or 32 graphics cores. These, on paper are some beefy specs and are sure to provide some amazing performances compared to the already amazing M1 chips.
Apples chips are set to be the “best-ever” in the world of computing, which really is no surprise but what is even more exciting the redesign of the Mac that is in the works. It is going to be an interesting year for the Mac and maybe this redesign is what is needed to make the Mac the best overall computer?
