In a recent post on Weibo, Han Boxiao, Product Manager at vivo, shared several key specifications for the X Fold 5. Specifically, the device is set to boast an impressive 4,500 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, it will feature high-frequency PWM dimming, both enhancements designed to improve display quality and user comfort. Furthermore, the X Fold 5 will carry the TUV Rheinland global eye protection 3.0 certification, emphasizing its commitment to user eye health.
Groundbreaking Apple Ecosystem Integration
However, the most surprising revelation from Boxiao’s announcement is the X Fold 5’s unprecedented level of compatibility with Apple devices. This foldable claims the title of the first Android phone to offer native Apple Watch support, letting users view incoming calls and text messages directly on their Apple Watch. Additionally, health data recorded by the Apple Watch will be able to sync seamlessly with vivo’s health application.
Beyond Wearables: iCloud, Mac, and AirPods Connectivity
The integration extends beyond wearables. Boxiao confirmed that the X Fold 5 will feature direct iCloud connectivity, built right into its file management system. This will enable users to easily access their iCloud files from the Android device. The X Fold 5 now actively blurs the lines between ecosystems by functioning as an extended display for Mac computers, supporting AirPods connectivity, and offering Mac remote control capabilities.
