What Is Going On With The OnePlus 6 and 6T?

One month with the OnePlus 6T: Affordable Android is a flagship killer | ZDNetOnePlus is a company that was known to be the next best thing when it comes to software updates (other than the Pixel), but as of late that has not been the case. The best example would be the OnePlus 6 and 6T.

These two devices were released back in 2018 and were on Android 9 Pie upon release but have still not received an update to Android 11, however that does not mean they have not been receiving updates. In October 2020, the devices received an updated version of OxygenOS along with the October security patch. The same scenario happened in the months of January and March 2o21. In April 2021, the devices did not receive an update to a new version of OxygenOS but did receive the latest security patch. The devices also just received an update to the May 2021 security patch as well. OnePlus always promises at least 2 Android versions for their devices which means these devices are supposed to get Android 11. Android Authority estimates that these devices will only be receiving the devices in December 2021 and by that time, many devices would already be receiving the Android 12 update. The OnePlus 6 and 6T are devices that are still very capable in 2021 but are held back by OnePlus’s slow updates. Owners of these devices still hold out hope that this update will arrive, but after merely 3 years, are these two phones already obsolete?

OnePlus is not no longer the company we knew and loved. Their slowness in updates and move away from stock Android has fans turning away from them. Have they finally settles?
