Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Officially Unveiled with Focus on Performance and Cross-Device Integration

HyperOS 3 Unveiled: Xiaomi’s Update Focuses on Speed, AI, and Apple Integration

Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Launch

Xiaomi has officially announced HyperOS 3 in China, introducing the new software with the motto that “everything goes smoothly.” The update aims to deliver significant improvements across three key areas: faster performance, smarter assistance, and seamless connectivity across a wider range of devices, including, for the first time, select Apple hardware.

Enhanced Performance and Fluid User Experience

HyperOS 3 introduces a new scheduling system for apps and graphics that promises notable speed gains. According to Xiaomi, apps will open up to 21% faster, while video playback is 10% smoother. For mobile gamers, the update offers a 15% increase in frame rates under light load and a 9% quicker touch response. The system’s animations have also been refined across more than 100 everyday interactions to provide a more consistent and fluid feel.

Personalisation and New Features

A standout new feature is “Xiaomi Super Island,” a centralised hub for live activities and notifications that integrates with over 70 services. The update also brings a new layer of personalisation with a “Cinematic Lock Screen” and AI dynamic wallpapers that can transform photos into fresh visual scenes. Other changes include a unified customisation hub, a redesigned Photos app with smarter search capabilities, and automatic pet albums.

Expanding Ecosystem to Include Apple Devices

Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Apple Integration

In a major development, HyperOS 3 is designed to connect not only with Xiaomi’s own ecosystem but also with Apple devices. Users will be able to run phone apps on their iPads with full multitasking support, and on Macs, they can open up to three mobile app windows and use Touch ID or Face ID to unlock their Xiaomi phones. The integration also extends to iPhones, enabling notification syncing, file and photo sharing, and one-tap connection to hotspots.

Beyond mobile devices, the update enhances other platforms as well. PCs can now open six app windows simultaneously, tablets support new split-screen ratios and low-latency handwriting, and wearables can transfer real-time heart rate data.

Advanced AI and Security

The new operating system leverages artificial intelligence to simplify user tasks. “Super XiaoAI Suggestion” offers context-aware guidance, while “One-Step Access” provides shortcuts powered by on-device AI. The “Screen Circle” feature enables users to draw a circle on the screen to search or translate content instantly. On the security front, HyperOS 3 strengthens protection with post-quantum cryptography, end-to-end data privacy, offline device tracking, and dual-layer login verification.

Initial Rollout in China

The rollout of HyperOS 3 has begun in China, with the initial phase starting on 29 August for flagship devices like the Xiaomi 15 series, Redmi K80 Pro/Ultra, and Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro. A broader rollout is scheduled throughout September, with additional devices receiving the update by 17 and 30 September. Xiaomi has advised users to stay updated on the official community announcements for precise rollout dates, as they may be subject to change.
