Xiaomi wrapped up a special event last night where they announced the highly anticipated Redmi Note 10 5G, Redmi Note 10S and a few other products so here is everything you need to know.
Redmi Note 10 5G
The Redmi Note 10 5G is setting out to be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the world and it does just that. The phone packs a MediaTek Dimensity 700 which is built on the 7nm process and has Dual 5G SIM support.
The phone packs a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 90Hz refresh rate display and is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. In terms of the camera, it has a very basic triple-camera setup including a 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. The front has a punch hole camera which packs a 8MP camera. The device also packs a 5,000 mAh battery and supports up to 18W fast charger but included in the box is a 22.5W fast charger. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side mounted fingerprint scanner and an IR blaster. In terms of software, it runs MIUI 12 on top of Android 11.
The phone starts at a very affordable RM799 and can be purchased via official Xiaomi stores on Lazada and Shopee and offline at Authorised Mi Stores. It comes in four colours that include, Chrome Silver, Graphite Grey, Nighttime Blue and Aurora Green.
Redmi Note 10S
The Redmi Note 10s is a higher mid-range device that does not pack 5G but does come with some better features. It has a smaller 6.43-inch Full HD+ display but instead of IPS LCD on the Redmi Note 10 5G, this device packs an AMOLED panel which is much more vibrant. The 90Hz display has been swapped out for a 60Hz panel unfortunately. Inside, it packs a MediaTek Helio G95 which is built on the less efficient 12nm process but overall it is a better chip. It also comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. In terms of audio, it has a dual speaker set up.
In terms of cameras, the phone gets a quad-camera setup which packs a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP depth camera. The front facing camera is a 13MP sensor in the punch hole on the screen. It also has an IR Blaster, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side mounted fingerprint scanner. In terms of the battery, the phone comes equipped with a 5,000 mAh power cell and supports up to 33W fast charging. The 33W power brick is included in the box. The phone is also equipped with MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11.
The device starts at RM100 more than the Redmi Note 105G which places it at RM899 and can be purchased via official Xiaomi stores on Lazada and Shopee and offline at Authorised Mi Stores. It comes in three colours that include, Onyx Grey, Pebble White and Ocean Blue.
Mi TV P1 Series and Mi TV Q1 75-inch
Xiaomi also launched a line of smart TVs at the event. First is the Mi TV P1 series which aims to make a smart home experience accessible to everyone. The entire line has a bezel-less design which creates a very immersive experience. It has a 60Hz LED panel and is available in a 55-inch model, a 43-inch model and a 32-inch model here in Malaysia. The 55-inch and 43-inch models will have a 4K UHD Dolby Vision display and the 55-inch also packs HDR10+ certification which creates a more lifelike image on the screen. All models also comes with Android TV in terms of software and the Google Assistant built in.
The Mi TV Q1 75-inch aims to be a higher end TV with its minimalistic design and 75-inch bezel-less display. It has a 4K UHD QLED panel which is the quantum dot technology found on many high end TVs. The panel is also Dolby Vision and HDR10+ certified while having an amazing contrast ratio of 10,000:1. It also has a massive 120Hz refresh rate as well as Dolby Audio support. Similar to the P1 series, it comes with Android TV built in.
The Mi TV P1 32-inch can be pre-ordered from June 6 at RM899, a discounted price when compared to the regular price of RM999 on Lazada and Shopee. The 43-inch variant can also be pre-ordered on the same day through Lazada and Shopee for a discounted price of RM1499 compared to the retail price of RM1799. The same applies for the 55-inch that will be on pre-order for RM2499. The Mi TV Q1 75-inch can be pre-ordered on June 6 on Lazada, Senheng and offline Mi Stores for RM 7999.
