Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Set for Imminent Launch in China, Key Details Emerge
Xiaomi will introduce its latest clamshell foldable smartphone, the Mix Flip 2, this week in China. Ahead of its official unveiling, the company has offered a glimpse into the device’s design, specifications, and new features through a series of posts on Weibo. The Mix Flip 2 serves as the successor to the original Mix Flip, bringing notable enhancements while retaining a familiar aesthetic.
Design and Display Innovations
Visually, the upcoming foldable maintains a strong resemblance to its predecessor, featuring a sleek clamshell form factor. Xiaomi has confirmed the device will be available in four distinct colour options, including a vibrant green, a sophisticated purple, and a luxurious gold, among others. A key design highlight is the introduction of a curved screen and an updated hinge structure, promising a refined user experience. The phone is remarkably slim, measuring just 7.57mm in thickness, and surprisingly light at 199g.
The Mix Flip 2 will boast a generous 4.01-inch external display, offering ample space for notifications and quick interactions without needing to unfold the device. When opened, users will be greeted by a large 6.86-inch internal display, ideal for immersive content consumption and productivity.
Performance and Battery Life
Xiaomi has confirmed that the compact foldable will run on the high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, delivering top-tier performance for demanding applications and multitasking. They’ve also significantly upgraded the battery, boosting its capacity to a substantial 5,165mAh, an impressive jump from the Mix Flip’s 4,780mAh, promising longer usage times.
Advanced Camera System with Leica Optics
On the photography side of things, the Mix Flip 2 comes with two Leica-tuned cameras. In terms of hardware, these cameras will offer apertures ranging from f/1.7 to f/2.2 and a focal length equivalent to 14–23mm. Notably, this specification confirms the inclusion of an ultra-wide angle camera, thereby marking a strategic shift from the telephoto lens found on the previous Mix Flip model. As a result, this suggests a focus on broader landscape shots and group photos.
Launch Details and Global Availability
Xiaomi will launch the Mix Flip 2 on June 26 during an event where it plans to unveil a variety of new products. The company is also expected to reveal full details about the smartphone’s capabilities and pricing at the event.
However, as of now, there is no official confirmation regarding its global release.
