Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen

Xiaomi has officially listed its new Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen), succeeding the popular 2nd Gen model launched in 2023. The latest streaming device still supports 4K video decoding at 60FPS. In addition, it features Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support for a premium viewing experience.

The key upgrade lies in its internal hardware. Specifically, the TV Box S (3rd Gen) features a 64-bit processor with a quad-core A55 CPU clocked at up to 2.5GHz. According to Xiaomi, this delivers a significant 25% increase in CPU performance and a 130% boost in GPU performance. Furthermore, it comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Like its predecessor, the new model runs on Google TV, providing access to a vast array of streaming apps, built-in Chromecast, and Google Assistant for voice control. Connectivity has been enhanced with Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 for improved wireless speeds and stability. Audio quality also sees an upgrade with support for Dolby Audio and DTS:X, replacing the DTS-HD of the previous generation.

The device includes an HDMI 2.1 port and a USB 2.0 port. However, it lacks the audio output present on the older model. The accompanying 360° Bluetooth remote retains a similar design with dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix, and YouTube. The TV Box itself is slightly larger, measuring 97 x 97 x 17 mm.

Xiaomi has yet to announce the precise launch date, specific regions of availability, and pricing for the TV Box S (3rd Gen). As a reference, the 2nd Gen model is currently priced at RM219 here in Malaysia. Further details are expected soon.
