Xiaomi’s Mi A3: An Android Purists’ Dream Come True

Xiaomi embarked on Google’s Android One programme back in 2017 and now it looks like early hints from the company’s social media point to a third version, the Mi A3, set to debut soon as the company will make an official announcement come July 17.

In fact, some Malaysian retailers like Mobile2Go are already offering imported units from RM1,098 (4GB RAM + 64GB) although there has yet to be any official announcement from Xiaomi.

As far as specs are concerned, the Mi A3 appears to be very tempting for the budget-conscious user as it boasts a 6.08-inch AMOLED screen, which sounds mighty fine for consuming content with.

Secondly, it is expected to run on Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 665, which we can expect to be quite a power efficient smartphone as it is paired to a sizeable 4,030mAh battery.

On the camera end of things, the Mi A3 isn’t too shoddy with a nice 48-Megapixel main camera paired with an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-Megapixel camera for depth sensing. The little teardrop notch in front will house a 32-Megapixel selfie camera.

It is worth pointing out that the Mi A3 will drop the fingerprint sensor in favour of an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Despair, not audio fans because the Mi A3 still comes with the classic 3.5mm headphone jack and has an infrared blaster to boot too.

Regardless whether you are on the fence about this or can’t wait for the official announcement, the Mi A3 is shaping up to be a very tempting offering for Android purists out there.
