GIVEAWAY! 3 Reasons to Get the Poco M3

Hey guys, so the Poco M3 came into the smartphone market with quite a bang when it was released last month, and it has given us consumers another great option especially with an amazing price of only RM599.

So, in this review, instead of me going through every point and tech specs of the phone, I have decided to keep things short and sweet, and give you 3 MAIN or TOP reasons why you should consider getting the Poco M3! And stay till the end, as Adam Lobo is going to be Adam Clause as I am giving this phone to you as well!

(article continues after the video)

1st Reason – Screen

First, it is the phone’s screen.

The POCO M3 comes with 6.53 inch FHD+ Dot Drop IPS LCD Display, with a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels. Usually, most smartphones within this price range, you would get lesser than a 1080p display so it was great that Poco didn’t compromise on the screen resolution, giving you great quality smartphone display within this price range.

So yes, watching videos both on YouTube and on Netflix was great, especially since it is L1 Widevine certified on Netflix, so you will get great colour reproduction and of course, great viewing angles as well, making this phone a great smartphone to consume videos.

And on top of that, the screen is also TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certified, to give you the best viewing experience without damaging your eyes, even during long gameplay as well.

2nd Reason – Camera

As for the second reason would be its phone’s cameras.

The POCO M3 comes with 3 lenses at the back:

  • a 48 MP, f/1.8, (wide lens)
  • a 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro lens)
  • a 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth sensor)

Looking at the picture quality, the picture for the main lens looks great, with just the right amount of highlights without overexposing it. And the dynamic range and detail were also great for the main lens. And the same can be said for the Portrait Mode for a great subject to background blur.

Now although the phone does not come with an ultrawide lens, but the 48-megapixel mode, does indeed come in clutch to get the extra information needed to zoom in into the pictures and crop accordingly as a great workaround.

So I have always been a bit sceptical about Macro Lens, especially when it comes to getting the focus right, and I have to say that the Macro Lens did perform well, with very nice close-up shots without any colour shift issues, even where some mid-range smartphones tend to, and the focus on the Macro mode is locked in pretty much great.

Then the night shots were quite decent indeed, which I kind of like it because some smartphones tend to over boost the shadows during lowlight shots, where the night mode shots on this phone had a very nice balance of highlights and shadows, which also means that the night shots had absolutely no noise on the images even when you zoom in close!

Then as for the front camera, it has an 8-megapixel f 2.1 aperture, where the overall images had great detail with balance skin tones. And the portrait mode for the selfie camera had a great shallow depth of field with decent edge detection.

Then finally looking at the video taking capabilities. Both the rear and front records up to 1080p up to 30 frames per second, also with a great amount of details where the image stabilization for the rear was not at its highest but for the front camera was great, making it a great option for Vlogging on a budget.

3rd Reason – Battery

And the third and final reason is Battery.

The Poco M3 comes with a massive 6,000 milliamps of battery, where again, I have to applaud Poco for fitting in a huge battery without making the device look very thick, so good job Poco!

And based on my test using the phone as my daily driver smartphone, I got almost 9 hours of screen on time at still 18 percentage left. And what’s nice it comes with a USB-C port, so no Micro USB crap. It also comes with 18-watt fast charging and what’s extra sweet is that in the box, it comes with a bigger 22.5-watt charging brick which only means that you are surely getting more than what you pay for.

All right guys, so that is my 3 of the top reasons why I personally think that it is indeed the best affordable smartphone this year, so with this, do let me know what you think about the Poco M3 at the comments section below.
