Last night, Huawei unveiled their new HarmonyOS operating system but the star of the show was when they teased their P50 series of smartphones. The company did not disclose any specs, launch date or availability but did tease the design of the upcoming devices.
The picture did show a rather interesting camera array in which there are four visible lenses and a dual flash system as well. We currently do not know what these sensors are or how many megapixels they will be but as with Huawei, you can expect some stellar photos especially since they seem to be working with Leica for the optics. Another picture showed off the usual Leica branding below the camera module which indicates that that camera brand did have a part to play in the making of the P50 Series.
Huawei also claimed that they will “lift mobile photography to a new level” with this upcoming line of smartphones. The P40 Pro Plus was an amazing phone in terms of zoom and since the camera bump in these photos seem to be a lot bigger, it indicates that Huawei have put in even bigger sensors in the P50.
Huawei executive Richard You did not reveal much else about the device but he did say that it will have a lightweight design and an iconic design language. The phone is also expected to ship with the new HarmonyOS but Huawei did not confirm that yet.
The company said that they are “trying to figure out how to make this great product available to you”, which is no surprise as there are currently supply strains around their Kirin processors. While the release date is still unknown, this does look like an interesting device so far.
