ASUS today announced the arrival of its brand-new ASUS Gaming series, introducing the powerful yet remarkably portable ASUS Gaming V16 (V3607) and ASUS Gaming K16 (K3605) laptops. This launch marks an interesting departure for ASUS, as these gaming-focused machines are not being released under the company’s established Republic of Gamers (ROG) or The Ultimate Force (TUF) Gaming brands. Instead, they debut under their own dedicated “ASUS Gaming” banner, signalling a fresh approach to the gaming laptop market.
A New Era for ASUS Gaming Laptops
ASUS Gaming series is built on the core principle of “Lightweight, Game On.” It aims to empower a wider audience, including gamers, creators, and students. The goal is to deliver high-performance capabilities in sleek and lightweight designs. Powerful gaming laptops are often bulky, but ASUS has found a way around that. They’ve innovated to offer a lighter alternative without compromising on performance.
Introducing the ASUS Gaming V16 and K16
The initial lineup features two compelling 16-inch models: the V16 and the K16. Both laptops feature immersive displays and powerful GPUs. They also come equipped with efficient cooling systems. This combination makes them perfect for intense gaming sessions as well as creative workflows. Despite their performance, they remain compact and lightweight. This ensures easy portability—whether you’re heading to class, working in a café, or just moving between rooms.
Uncompromising Portability
Weighing just 1.80 kg and measuring only 1.89 cm thin, this series is one of the lightest and slimmest 16-inch gaming laptop lineups in its class. Despite its sleek design, it doesn’t compromise on connectivity. Both models come equipped with a full range of I/O ports, offering plenty of versatility. Some models also include a high-capacity 63Wh battery, boosting mobility even further. This allows users to handle long gaming sessions and demanding tasks without constantly needing to plug in.
Game-Ready Performance
Under the hood, the ASUS Gaming series is equipped to handle both intense gaming and demanding multitasking. Configurations feature up to an Intel Core 5 Processor 510H and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU. To ensure consistent and responsive performance, even during extended use, the laptops feature an advanced thermal architecture. This includes up to two cooling fans and heat pipes that efficiently dissipate heat. Some models also offer a combined Thermal Design Power (TDP) of up to 70W for the CPU and GPU. This allows them to maintain sustained peak performance over time.
Immersive Visual Experience
Visuals are brought to life on a vibrant 16-inch FHD+ IPS display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The narrow bezels contribute to an impressive 89% screen-to-body ratio, maximising immersion in games and videos. The taller 16:10 aspect ratio provides 11% more vertical screen real estate, offering a significant advantage for content creation, multitasking, and reducing the need for excessive scrolling.
Built for Durability and Convenience
Both the ASUS Gaming V16 and K16 are engineered to provide an immersive gaming experience with a focus on both performance and affordability. Reinforcing their reliability for everyday use and travel, each laptop undergoes rigorous military-grade durability testing (MIL-STD 810H). To further enhance the user experience right out of the box, both models come bundled with a complimentary 3-month PC Game Pass, granting access to a vast library of games, and Microsoft Office Home 2024 for immediate productivity.
ASUS Gaming V16 vs. ASUS Gaming K16
The V16 stands out with a more powerful configuration. It features up to an Intel Core 5 Processor 210H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU. It also comes with faster DDR5 memory and a larger 63Wh battery. For video calls, there’s a 1080p FHD webcam that delivers clearer visuals. These upgrades make the V16 especially ideal for heavy multitasking and content creation.
The K16, on the other hand, offers a slightly more compact and lighter design, weighing in at just 1.80kg. It is powered by an Intel Core i5-13420H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, delivering solid gaming and creative performance while prioritising portability and value.
Despite their differences, both models share the same immersive 16-inch FHD+ 144Hz display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and comprehensive connectivity options, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience.
