This is the new Sony BRAVIA 3, a 4K HDR TV that has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos built in, and it starts at a price of only RM3,899!
But is it worth it? And what’s that one feature that sets it apart from the rest? Does this mean that cinema is coming home?
Display
The Sony BRAVIA 3 comes in four sizes: 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. It features a stunning 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution Ultra HD IPS panel.Â
It has four HDMI ports, and one of them is a version 2.1 eARC port. There are also two USB ports, an optical port, and an Ethernet port as well.
As mentioned, the BRAVIA 3 supports 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. This means that you get a truly cinematic viewing and hearing experience. As of the time of writing, no competitors offer pricing similar to this level of support. So yes, this does clearly mean that cinema is indeed coming home!
By now, you probably already heard of Dolby, right? But what is Dolby exactly? To explain it in the simplest way, for Dolby Vision, imagine watching your favorite cartoon or movie, but instead of it looking flat and a little dull, it looks super bright and colorful, almost like the characters could just jump out of the screen.Â
Dolby Vision gives better colors, more details, high brightness, and contrast, and most importantly, Dynamic Metadata. This acts like a really smart guide, helping you adjust the picture frame by frame, ensuring that each scene looks its best.Â
It’s like having a friend inside your TV to help you adjust the brightness and colors for every single moment of your movie. Ultimately, we all watch TV these days more at home for movies anyway.
As for Dolby Atmos, this is more for the sound perspective. Think about a time when you went to a really cool movie theater. The sound was quite amazing, right? You could hear the whispers, the big explosions, and the music coming from all around you, making you feel like you are right in the middle of the action. That is Dolby working its magic, my friends.
The BRAVIA 3 display is powered by the 4K HDR Processor X1â„¢, which intelligently enhances every scene in real time, boosting color, contrast, and overall clarity.Â
With TRILUMINOS PROâ„¢, you get a wider color palette for more natural and realistic shades. This is similar to the QLED range, which means that the colors are more vibrant and lifelike.Â
This technology makes even the most subtle shades clear and never oversaturated. Imagine watching a nature documentary and seeing every shade of green in the forest, or a sci-fi movie with those deep, vivid colors.
It is a total game-changer, especially if you love watching football too, because the greens on the grass are not overly saturated, which most TVs tend to do.
Here’s a little bonus you get with the Sony BRAVIA 3: access to Sony Picture Core. This comes with 5 credits and 12 months of free streaming. This is a fantastic addition, giving you access to a great library of movies and shows, all tuned specifically for Sony TVs, ensuring the best viewing and audio experience. Don’t worry, I will be talking about the audio performance later.
Additionally, the 4K X-Reality PRO technology brings back lost detail and upscales your content to near 4K resolution. This means that even older shows and movies look fantastic on this TV, giving your old DVDs a digital facelift!Â
There’s also the Dynamic Contrast Enhancer, which automatically adjusts contrast settings according to your environment, providing clearer and more defined colors. Whether you’re watching the BRAVIA 3 during the day or night, you will get the best optimum level of brightness, which also optimizes power consumption.
Sound
As for the sound quality, the X-Balanced Speaker with Dolby Atmos support provides clear and natural sound, making your favorite content even more enjoyable. Whether you’re watching an intense action movie or a subtle drama, the sound is always very immersive and crisp.
The TV’s Slim Wedged Stand is nicely leveled for you to add an additional soundbar if you want, but honestly, the speaker itself speaks volumes and sounds decently loud.Â

Software
Of course, being a smart TV, we have to talk about software. The BRAVIA 3 comes with Google TV, giving you access to all your favorite streaming apps in one place.
Plus, with Google Assistant, you can simply use your voice to search for content or ask general questions like, “How’s the weather?” It’s super convenient, especially when you’re in the middle of a movie and want to find out about a particular actor or even the location where the movie was shot.Â
On top of that, you can also control your smart home devices with your voice, making this TV a central hub for your smart home. It is compatible with Amazon’s Alexa, has Chromecast built-in, and supports Apple AirPlay and HomeKit.
You can turn it on and off using Apple HomeKit, so no matter what ecosystem you’re in, the BRAVIA 3 fits right in.
There’s also the Eco Dashboard, which lets you see if your TV is at the optimum environmental efficiency. Speaking of being environmentally friendly, the BRAVIA 3 also comes with less packaging and less virgin plastic, and even the backlit TV remote is made of recycled plastic.
Conclusion
So there you have it: the Sony BRAVIA 3, which seems to be a complete home entertainment package at a very good price. Whether you’re into movies or just watching your favorite shows, this TV has got you covered with its smart functionality and amazing picture quality for the price.Â
