HUAWEI is preparing to launch the HUAWEI Mate 70 Air, an ultra-thin flagship that has been extensively detailed through leaks from Chinese sources and a brief public listing on the China Telecom website. The specifications point to a device designed to directly compete with models like the iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge in the premium, slim-design category.
Ultra-Slim Design Details
The device is expected to feature a thickness that rivals Apple’s iPhone Air, which would make it one of the slimmest smartphones HUAWEI has ever produced.
Leaked images confirm the Mate 70 Air will utilise the signature circular XMAGE camera module characteristic of the Mate 70 series. The China Telecom listing, tagged with the model number SUP-AL90, provided the initial set of hardware information.
Leaked Key Specifications
The reported specifications for the HUAWEI Mate 70 Air include a large 6.9-inch AMOLED panel, featuring a Full HD+ resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. In terms of performance, the phone is anticipated to launch with 12GB of RAM and will offer two storage configurations: 256GB and 512GB. Furthermore, the device is tipped to run on HUAWEI’s HarmonyOS 5.0 platform.
For imaging, the device is rumoured to include a triple-camera module on the rear, centred around a large 1/1.3-inch main sensor. The front-facing cameras may also incorporate a dual setup, potentially integrating technology for 3D facial recognition. While the exact battery capacity is unconfirmed, leaks indicate it might exceed 6,000mAh, which would provide a substantial capacity advantage over competing ultra-slim rivals. This battery is expected to support 66W fast USB-C charging.
The device is also expected to include support for physical SIM cards. However, the listed model number (SUP-AL90) suggests this specific variant may be limited to non-5G connectivity. Colour options are expected to include at least three variants: Black, Gold, and Silver.
