Maxis and Nokia have joined forces to accelerate the development of next-generation connectivity solutions in Malaysia. Furthermore, this expanded partnership will focus on two key areas: enhancing network security and reliability, and building a robust 5G Core ecosystem.
Maxis and Nokia Fortifying Networks for the Future
The collaboration was officially announced at a signing ceremony held at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. With a core focus on strengthening Maxis’ network security and reliability, Maxis and Nokia are teaming up to investigate cutting-edge technologies. Among these technologies is quantum-safe optical networking. The aim of this collaboration is to protect Maxis’ networks against various threats, both classical and quantum-based. Moreover, they will explore innovative solutions to enhance secure and scalable connectivity across cloud environments. This collaboration will ultimately boost overall network security, benefiting enterprise customers.
These initiatives align with the growing demand for robust network infrastructure. Moreover, this infrastructure needs to support seamless cross-border data exchange and strong inter-connectivity. Furthermore, it is backed by secure optical data centres.
Building a Future-Proof 5G Core
To meet the ever-increasing demand for fast, secure, and reliable connectivity, Maxis has recently appointed Nokia as a key partner in building part of its 5G Core network. Consequently, this collaboration will leverage cloud-native solutions, enabling the telco to fully harness the potential of 5G technology. Additionally, cloud-native solutions offer greater functionality, reliability, and efficiency, paving the way for next-generation 5G offerings.
“We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Nokia… This will ensure we are future-ready to meet customers’ ever-increasing demands for fast, secure and reliable connectivity,” said Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis.
Ngiam Ming Kin, Head of Network Infrastructure for Asia South, Nokia added, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Maxis to enhance its network infrastructure… capitalising on the growing demand for data centres, 5G and computing power in the country.”
Looking Ahead
The collaboration aims to ensure all Malaysians and Malaysian businesses have access to fast, secure, and dependable connectivity. This effort is paving the way for a more connected future.
