MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9500 Flagship Chip
After last week’s tease, MediaTek has officially announced its new flagship mobile platform, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a chipset designed for the next generation of 5G smartphones. The company states the new platform aims to improve performance, power efficiency, and on-device AI.

The Dimensity 9500 is built with a third-generation “All Big Core” CPU, featuring a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores. Paired with four-lane UFS 4.1 storage, MediaTek claims the design delivers up to 32% higher single-core performance and 17% higher multi-core performance compared to the previous generation. The ultra core is also said to consume up to 55% less power at peak performance. Additionally, the company reports the chip is up to 30% more power-efficient when multitasking in games and social audio call apps.
According to JC Hsu, MediaTek’s corporate senior vice president, the chip is designed to address consumer demand for more intelligent and efficient devices. “The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 delivers exactly that: breakthrough on-device AI, top-tier performance and efficiency, and a full suite of premium experiences,” Hsu said in a statement.

For AI capabilities, the platform integrates the ninth-generation MediaTek NPU 990 with the Generative AI Engine 2.0. This combination reportedly doubles compute power and supports BitNet 1.58-bit large model processing, which MediaTek says can reduce power consumption by up to 33%. The NPU is also claimed to enable 100% faster output for 3 billion parameter large language models, 128K token long text processing, and on-device 4K ultra-high-definition image generation.
The integrated Arm G1-Ultra GPU is stated to offer up to 33% higher peak performance and 42% improved power efficiency. The chipset also supports high frame rate interpolation up to 120FPS ray tracing. The company notes its collaboration with game studios and support for Unreal Engine 5.6’s MegaLights and Unreal Engine 5.5’s Nanite features.
Additional features of the Dimensity 9500 include the MediaTek Imagiq 1190, which supports up to 200MP capture and 4K 60FPS portrait video. The new MiraVision Adaptive Display technology is designed to dynamically adjust contrast and colour saturation based on ambient lighting. The chip’s connectivity suite includes various AI-powered enhancements aimed at reducing power consumption in 5G and Wi-Fi scenarios and improving network accuracy and latency.
Smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 are expected to be commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2025.
