Motorola’s Revived Razr Phone Is A Blast From The Past

You just can’t keep a good phone down can you? After nearly 15 years Motorola is finally bringing back its iconic foldable Razr (pronounced ‘Razor’) phone.

If you don’t remember the Razr phone, know this, it was a sleek feature phone from back in the day, circa 2004, that boasted a striking appearance and thin profile. There was no denying that there was something exceptionally cool about flipping the lid of the phone open to take a call and closing it with satisfying ‘click’ when you were done.

Fast forward to 2019 and Motorola has sent out invitations to an event on 13 November that is expected to be the bring an updated Razr phone to the market.

Just like the original, the new Razr is rumoured to have a foldable screen, but unlike the classic Razr, this one is expected to fold vertically to fit inside pockets instead of spreading out like a tablet (ala Samsung’s Galaxy Fold).

From the looks of things, the phone is expected to cost US$1,500 and will come with a 6.2-inch screen that runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. Expect it to pack a 2,730mAh battery with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In terms of colours, it will come in white, black and gold.

As Motorola hints, “You’re going to flip.” Let’s hope that we do.
