HUAWEI has just announced their new nova 12 series in China. The new series will include four models; the HUAWEI nova 12, nova 12 Pro, nova 12 Ultra and the nova 12 Lite.
HUAWEI nova 12
The base nova 12 model comes with a 6.7-inch OLED display with 2,412 x 1,084 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and a fingerprint sensor underneath the display. HUAWEI hasn’t confirmed the nova 12’s chipset; rumours point to the Kirin 830 SoC. This is accompanied by two storage options; 256GB or 512GB. Unfortunately, Regrettably, HUAWEI did not disclose the device’s RAM capacity.
In terms of camera, the nova 12 touts an elliptical rear camera setup that includes a 50MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a laser focus sensor. On the front is a whopping 60MP ultrawide selfie camera with a 100˚ FOV nestled in a punch-hole cutout at the top centre of the display. Keeping the lights on is a 4,600mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging. Interestingly enough, HUAWEI also included liquid cooling with the device.
HUAWEI nova 12 Pro and Ultra
Moving on to to the first variant in the line, the HUAWEI nova 12 Pro. The Pro variant sports a 6.76-inch LTPO OLED display with 2,776 x 1,224 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and a pill-shaped notch that houses dual selfie cameras. The display also has a fingerprint sensor underneath and is protected by Kunlun Glass.
As with the case of the base model, HUAWEI has not revealed the type of chipset nor the RAM this device will be carrying. However, speculation suggests that it includes the Kirin 9000S, Huawei’s flagship SoC, and up to 512GB of internal storage. The Pro model also features an elliptical rear camera setup with a 50MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a laser focus sensor. On the front is the same 60MP selfie camera as the base model coupled with an additional 8MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom.
Under the hood is a 4,600mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging. The device also comes with satellite calling and messaging based on a two-way Beidou satellite messaging system, dual-band GPS, NFC, and stereo speakers.
Next is the HUAWEI nova 12 Ultra which is essentially the same phone as the Pro model save for a few differences. The main difference is the fact that the Ultra variant sports a faux leather back. The device also comes with a higher storage capacity, coming in at up to 1TB internal storage.
HUAWEI nova 12 Lite
Last but not least, we have the littlest brother in the line, the HUAWEI nova 12 Lite. HUAWEI has not yet confirmed the SoC, but reports suggest that the Lite variant will include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor. The display of the Lite model is exactly the same as the base model. The camera setup is also the same as the base model albeit with a slightly different approach in its design. The battery of the Lite model is a tad smaller at 4,500mAh and features a slower charging speed at 66W.
