VAIO SX14
Next up, we have the notebook for the premium market. The VAIO SX14 is a lightweight machine that does not skimp out on I/O ports. The SX14 has a chassis constructed from a blend of carbon fiber and magnesium alloy (similar to the LG gram). When we say the VAIO doesn’t skimp on I/O ports, we mean it really has all the ports you could ever need. There’s a single USB-C port that supports USB 3.1 Gen 1, three full-size USB-A ports, a full sized SD Card reader, a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, an HDMI port, and curiously, even the curious inclusion of a VGA port. One thing to note is however the lack of a thunderbolt 3 port.

The VAIO also features its TruePerformance® that maximises its overall performance. There are also some handy security features like the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner and TPM 2.0 chip whichs adds an extra hardware based layer of security. This should help keep your data secure without intervention from users.

Last but one of the most exciting notebook announced is the VAIO A12. This is Vaio answer to the Microsoft Surface. The VAIO A12 is a 2-in-1 designed to be a “True Laptop and True Tablet”. It makes use of a stabilizer flap that adds comfort to the typing experience. This is also the smallest of the three devices with a 12.5” screen instead of 14”. The tablet portion of the VAIO A12 has a single USB C port and a headphone jack. While the keyboard houses more ports which includes HDMI & VGA ports. Also note, with the VAIO A12, we’re getting a less powerful Y series processor (Amber Lake Y) compared to the Whiskey Lake processors found in the SE14 and SX14.
