Nothing’s CMF Buds 2 Briefly Surface Online Before Disappearing Ahead of Official Launch
As anticipation builds for the 28th April debut of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing’s sub-brand, CMF by Nothing, briefly unveiled its latest audio offering earlier this week. The CMF Buds 2 unexpectedly appeared on the official Nothing webstore, offering a significant upgrade over their predecessors and even allowing pre-orders in some regions before the listing was swiftly removed.
CMF Buds 2: Enhanced Audio Experience
The new CMF Buds 2 maintain a familiar design, much like the original CMF Buds. However, significant improvements lie within. Indeed, they feature custom-tuned 11mm drivers. Furthermore, Dirac Opteo sound tuning enhances the audio. Consequently, this promises a richer and more immersive listening experience. For bass enthusiasts, Nothing is introducing its Ultra Bass Technology 2.0, aiming for a deeper and more impactful low-frequency output.
Upgraded Connectivity and Features
Connectivity also sees an upgrade with the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.4, enabling more stable and efficient connections. The CMF Buds 2 further support seamless integration with both Android and Windows ecosystems through Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, respectively. Multi-taskers will appreciate the dual device pairing capability, allowing for simultaneous connection to two devices.
Improved Noise Cancellation and Call Quality
A key area of improvement lies in the noise cancellation department. Nothing claims the CMF Buds 2 can now block out up to an impressive 48db of ambient noise. The hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system operates across a wide 5,200Hz frequency range. Moreover, it intelligently adapts noise reduction in real-time. This adaptation is based on the surrounding environment.
Furthermore, clarity during calls is also prioritised. To achieve this, the earbuds feature a six-microphone array, with three on each side. Finally, Nothing’s Clear Voice Technology 3.0 further enhances call quality. Furthermore, the buds support spatial audio for a more three-dimensional soundstage.
Durability and Battery Life
Durability is addressed with an IP55 rating for the earbuds, offering protection against water and dust. The charging case receives an IPX2 rating, safeguarding against water splashes. Battery life sees a substantial boost, with the CMF Buds 2 offering up to 13.5 hours of playback on a single charge. This can be extended to a remarkable 55 hours with the charging case.
Colour Options and Pricing
The CMF Buds 2 were listed in three distinct colour options: Light Green, Dark Grey, and Orange, catering to different aesthetic preferences. Priced competitively at USD59 (~RM260), Nothing was offering an enticing pre-order discount during the brief listing. Deliveries for these early orders were initially scheduled to commence around 18th April.
Product Listing Removed Ahead of Official Launch
However, shortly after the product page went live and garnered attention, Nothing removed the CMF Buds 2 listing from their official website, and the product is no longer searchable or available for order.
The reason for this sudden removal remains unconfirmed by Nothing. However, it is highly likely that this was a premature listing intended to coincide with the official launch event scheduled for 28th April, where the CMF Phone 2 Pro is also expected to be unveiled. This strategic move could be aimed at maintaining consistent messaging and maximising impact during the official announcement.
While the CMF Buds 2 are currently unavailable for purchase, interested consumers should anticipate their re-appearance on the Nothing website and through other retailers following the official launch event on April 28th. This brief glimpse has undoubtedly generated further excitement for Nothing’s upcoming product ecosystem.
