Pixel 5a Might Arrive This Summer

The A line of smartphones in Google’s Pixel lineup has been one of the most successful lineups as they provide amazing performance and the Pixel experience for a lower price. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman now reports that you may not have to wait that much longer for the latest in the Pixel A line, the Pixel 5a.

Gurman reports that the Pixel 5a looks set to be released in August, just about a year after the Pixel 4a was announced. This is not all that surprising as the Pixel 4a was pushed back due to COVID-19, and releasing the Pixel 5a earlier than August would give the 4a a really short lifecycle. An August launch would also mean that the phone will be released before the final release of Android 12.

The Pixel 5a looks set to be a iterative upgrade. Many leaks have suggested that this device might just be a tweaked Pixel 4a 5G with a lower price.

The phone will probably get dual rear cameras, 5G, a headphone jack and probably the same Snapdragon 765G chip. The Pixel 5a would be a device that you pick up if you do not want to pay the premium price the Pixel 6 looks set to come at.

There is not much else we know about the device so we will just have to stay tuned and see if Google launch it in August.
