To accommodate pre-dawn meals (sahur) and post-sunset fast-breaking (iftar), Prasarana is extending both morning and evening peak hours for Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), and KL Monorail services.

Mornings will see a 30-minute head start, with peak hours running from 6.30 am to 9.30 am instead of the usual 7.00 am to 9.30 am. Evenings will benefit from a significant 1.5-hour extension, with peak hours now from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm, as opposed to the current 5.00 pm to 7.30 pm schedule. This increased frequency of trains aims to ensure a smoother travel experience for passengers.

Prasarana Adjusts Peak Bus Hours for Klang Valley and Penang

Similar adjustments are being made for Rapid Bus services in Klang Valley and Penang, including MRT feeder buses. Passengers can expect peak hours to run from 6.30 am to 9.30 am in the mornings and from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm in the afternoons. It’s important to note that peak hours for Rapid Bus services in Kuantan remain unchanged.

Ramadhan Bazaars for Added Convenience

Prasarana’s subsidiary, Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE), is adding to the Ramadhan spirit by opening mini bazaars at three LRT stations: Pasar Seni, Damai, and Ampang Park. These bazaars offer a convenient way for commuters to grab food for iftar.

For those at Sri Rampai, Taman Melati, and Gombak LRT stations, existing bazaars will feature “grab and go” food and beverage options specifically suited for breaking fast. These options will be available from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

By implementing these adjustments and offering additional Ramadhan conveniences, Prasarana hopes to encourage public transport usage during this holy month, ultimately leading to reduced road congestion.
