Speaking of upgrades, the slim model boasts a 30% smaller volume and a weight reduction of 18%-24% compared to its predecessor. The iconic console now features four removable cover panels, opening up exciting personalisation options. But that’s not all – storage gets a significant boost with 1TB standard, up from the previous 825GB.

As opposed to the original “fat” PlayStation 5 models, the new slim models don’t come with an included stand. Instead, the slim model comes with two dedicated stands for horizontal placement, while a vertical stand remains available separately for RM149.

The PS5 Slim delivers lightning-fast SSD loading times, breathtaking 3D Audio, and the immersive experience of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in your DualSense controllers. And the cherry on top? Backward compatibility with a vast library of PS4 games ensures you can continue your favourite adventures.

Pre-orders are now open, so head to the official Sony store or your nearest authorised retailer and secure your PS5 Slim today.

While the PS5 Slim brings welcome refinements, some industry analysts suggest it might be a strategic move by Sony to bridge the gap before the inevitable arrival of the PS6. The slim model offers a compelling upgrade for now, although, it’s interesting to consider it within the context of the ever-evolving gaming landscape.
