Realme C15 Full Review and GIVEAWAY: A New Entry Level King

Hey guys, Adam Lobo here from Adam Lobo TV and in this article, I will be giving a full review of the Realme C15.

*Giveaway at the end of this post!

Specification

Let’s start with the phone’s specs, it comes with the Snapdragon 460 Chipset, with the Adreno 610 GPU. In Malaysia, it comes with 4GB RAM, with either 64 or 128GBof storage here. It comes shipped with Android 10, with Realme’s own Realme UI version 1.0.

Built Quality

Looking at the design and built, overall it had quite a great built. You will find the device just a tad bit thicker, since it holds a huge battery which I will talk about more later.

At the back, it is made of plastic, with the grid and square design at the back with the similar camera design of the Realme C11. And it comes with a rear physical fingerprint sensor at the back.

Like the Realme C11, since there is no camera bump, it will not wobble at all, when you place the phone on a surface, nice!

Then at the front, it has a dewdrop notch similar to the ones you see with other phones from Realme within this range.

And in terms of colour choices, the one which I am reviewing is called Seagull Silver, and it is also available in Marine Blue.

Ports and Buttons

As for the ports and buttons, down below there is a micro-USB port since it is an entry-level phone, a mono firing speaker, and a headphones jack.

On the right, there is the volume rocker and the power button. And on the left, there is the dual SIM and a dedicated micro-SD card slot that is expandable up to 256GB of storage.

Display

As for the phone’s screen, it has a 6.5 inch IPS LCD Display, with a rather interesting resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

Like I have mentioned before, I have never had any issues when it comes to IPS LCD Displays as of yet, and that was the same with the Realme C15.

Watching YouTube was capped at 720p due to its native resolution on the phone, which for its price of the phone, I didn’t want to nitpick on that.

And like other Realme phones, you can stretch out Netflix’s video playback to fit all the way to the dewdrop notch area, where some phones usually had that sort of bar at the notch area.

Camera Specs: Back / Front Image Quality

Looking at the camera’s specs, it comes with 4 camera arrays of a 13-megapixel f 2.2 wide lenses, an 8-megapixel f 2.3 ultrawide lenses, a 2 megapixel black and white filter with an f2.4 aperture lens, and a 2-megapixel f 2.4 aperture lens

The main lens looks very decent for a phone within this price range, with great detail and also a nice dynamic range.

I was pleasantly surprised with the portrait mode shots, as the subject to background blur was great, slightly saturating the skin tones to provide more depth, which of course you can edit in post if you want to.

As for the Ultrawide angle shots, again for this kind of price range and level, the image had no compromise on capturing a good focal length, with no distortion at the edges.

Now you can zoom up to 5 times digitally since there is no dedicated telephoto lens. So I wouldn’t go past the 3 times zoom, only if you have lots of light then it’s fine. But still, I don’t think you would use the images for the 5 times zoom but it’s nice that it is there.

As for the low light or the night shots, there is a night mode, but it does take quite a while for the image to process. Overall, the pictures still look decent, but you might find a little noise in the shadows area, but it does expose the highlights well.

As for the front camera, it has an 8-megapixel f 2.0 aperture lens. And looking at the regular shots, here is where I feel the front camera performs at its best with a softer light. As if you are under a more direct light either in a mall or outdoor, you might get the skin to be a bit overexposed on the forehead areas.

Like the rear camera, the portrait mode performed great for the selfie portrait mode as well.

Camera Video: Back / Front Quality, Image Stabilisation

As for the video recording, it records up to 1080p 30 frames per second, video quality in terms of the colour and image was nice, but there were times it was a bit jittery when you first hit the record button, and then after a while it’s fine, so hopefully, a software update will be able to fix this.

And it had just an average stabilization which is kind of expected for entry-level smartphones.

Then as for the front, it also records at the same resolution where the performance was very similar to the selfie photos as mentioned earlier with the same low stabilization as well.

Sound Quality

As for the phone’s speakers, it was decent with great volume at 81.9 DB, the mids were a bit more prominent compared to the highs.

Navigation

In terms of the software, it comes with Android 10 with Realme’s UI version 1.0. Now I have mentioned before that I kind of like the new iteration of the Realme UI, where although it is not “stock android” but features like swiping at the middle of the screen to go to the notifications panel, and swiping up goes to the app drawer is present on the phone.

In terms of scrolling websites, I’d give it a bit more time for the website to load the picture, before start scrolling as it does take a little more time to load, but once it’s loaded its works pretty great.

Battery Life

Now on to the phone’s battery, here is where the phone really shined. The phone comes with a massive 6000 milliamps of battery.

And based on what I can see, the device lasted for about 3 days since the phone was charged and I have a rough estimate about 6 hours and 33 minutes of battery life still available. So that was very impressive indeed.

And if you are worried about charging the phone fast since it comes with a Micro-USB port, well, fret not, because it does come with 18 watts of fast charging, which again, for the price and the level of this phone is quite a huge plus.

Gaming

In terms of gaming, playing Asphalt 9 was fine, with no heating issues both when I was playing that and also PUBG Mobile, where the graphics were defaulted at medium and the frame rate set to medium. Since the device was a bit thicker, it made me have a better grip during the gameplay sessions

Conclusion

So, with all of this, the real question is… Who is this Realme C15 for?

In my humble opinion, if you are a current user of a flagship phone, this would make an excellent second phone since it comes with massive battery life and a decent camera.

As for others, this would be a very great phone for your kids, or if you are a kid who is watching this video, that needs a phone which can last for a really long time, and will eventually appreciate Realme’s UI. And finally, the phone could be a great option for your mum or dad who just wants a phone that WORKS without compromising on the battery life.

Looking at the phones price here in Malaysia the Realme C15 is going for only RM599 for the 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage and rm699 for the higher 128GB variant.
