Samsung May Drop 128GB Base Storage Option for Galaxy S26, Leak Suggests
TL;DR: Samsung may drop the 128GB base storage option on the Galaxy S26. Leaks suggest the phone could start at 256GB, bringing it in line with most rivals.
Samsung may be preparing to remove the 128GB storage option from the base Galaxy S26, according to a new leak originating from a Finnish retailer.
Reported by SuomiMobiili, the retailer listing reportedly details storage and colour options for the entire Galaxy S26 lineup. Based on the information, the standard S26 could start at 256GB, with a higher-tier 512GB variant also listed.
If accurate, the move would mark a shift in Samsung’s flagship strategy. The company is currently one of the few major smartphone brands still offering a flagship device with 128GB of base storage, such as the Galaxy S25.

The leak aligns with earlier claims from well-known tipster Ice Universe, who previously suggested that the Galaxy S26 series would feature at least 256GB of storage in its base configuration. However, it remains unclear whether the change would apply globally, as the current information is based on data from a single retailer.
According to the same listing, the S26 Plus is expected to be available in 256GB and 512GB variants, while the S26 Ultra could offer 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options.
Colour options listed for the Finnish market include Black, White, Cobalt Violet, and Sky Blue across all three models. Previous leaks from Evan Blass have also suggested additional colour options for the Ultra model, including Silver Shadow and Pink Gold.
Moving the base Galaxy S26 to 256GB would bring Samsung in line with most competitors, which have already standardised higher base storage capacities in their flagship smartphones. Samsung has not commented on the leak or confirmed final specifications for the Galaxy S26 series.
