Samsung Released 7 New Devices!!? | Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023

So, Samsung has announced a whopping 7 new devices during the Unpacked event in Korea – from the Fold to the Flip, to the Watch, to the Tab series – and I had a chance to check out all of these devices. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your topokki while reading this; it will be worth every single moment.

Let’s start with the flagship phones. As expected, both the Flip and the Fold series have been refreshed for this year. Both have redesigned hinges that fold flat, and they feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, which is the customized version for Samsung on this particular chipset.

Galaxy Z Flip 5

Now, on the flip side, the hinge is now gapless, so it is 2mm smaller, and it does make a huge difference when it comes to the sleekness of the phone.

The screen is a Super AMOLED 60Hz panel that has been supersized to a whopping 3.4 inches… “Really, Adam? That tiny?” Well, I mean the folded screen size, which is a huge change compared to the previous generation.

Now, Samsung has decided to no longer call this the cover screen but now is known as the Flex Window. So now you can finally do more things, such as replying to texts on the screen, and it is also widget-based. So it’s not a total replacement for the front screen, thanks to its multiview feature.

You can also pull the notification bar like a normal screen, and there’s also the pinching action that you can use to show up all the active widgets, and you can switch between them easily.

Now, unfolded, the display is a 6.7 inches Dynamic AMOLED 2X adaptive 120Hz display, which comes with the same amazing quality as the previous generation.

Then, on the camera side, they’re using the same sensor from the previous generation, which, as a refresher, is a 12-megapixel F/2.2 ultrawide and a 12-megapixel F/1.8 OIS wide lens, which is the main lens of course, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera for the unfolded display.

Now, they also added digital zoom on the Flexcam to ensure an end-to-end selfie experience since it’s using the high-quality rear lenses for this.

And Flex Mode is now available for more third-party apps as well since the phone is in its fifth generation.

When it comes to the phone software, the phone is shipped with One UI 5.1.1, and it comes with 8GB of RAM with options of 256GB or 512GB of storage. It is IPX8 rated and has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

As for the color options, there will be four options which are Graphite, Cream, Mint, and Lavender, and they are all glossy finishes.

Galaxy Z Fold 5

Now, as for the Z Fold 5. There are quite a number of changes. Firstly, it’s lighter by 10 grams, and that is two 50 cents Malaysian coins, for you all to know and get a better idea.

The hinge is 2.4mm thinner than before and has a tiny less visible crease.

The screen sizes are the same as before, but now it’s way brighter at a peak brightness of 1750 nits compared to 1300 nits from the previous generation.

On the cooling side, the vapor chamber is now 38% larger. It is also IPX8 rated and uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

On the software side, it also comes shipped with One UI 5.1.1, and here are some of the highlighted features. Because as for this Z Fold 5, Samsung is encouraging people to use the unfolded screen a little more instead of focusing on the folded experience on the Z Fold 5.

For one, there is the advanced taskbar where you’ll see at the bottom when the fold is in tablet mode, where you can add four or more apps over there. And you can also open up to four or even five windows.

Another nifty trick is that there is also the two-handed drag and drop, where you can use one hand to hold the image and the other to switch into another app and paste the image over there.

And also worth mentioning is that the Flex Mode panel is on a UI level. So if the app that you open does not officially support it, you can still use the Flex Mode as long as you have it enabled in the settings. Then there’s also the Collaborative mode where you can collaborate with other people on Samsung Notes and have both working on the same project at the same time.

Then the camera models are the same as the previous generation where I’ll put up the specs for you guys to see over here. They also have a new protective cover that is 41% slimmer than before.

Then, as for the color options, there are three colors for you guys to choose from: Icy blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, where all are in a matte finish.

The options include 12GB of RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage, and also 1TB of storage

Then, battery capacity is also the same for both devices – 4400mAh for the Z Fold 5 and 3700mAh for the Z Flip 5. But it will have some improved battery life thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and this chipset also plays a huge role when it comes to the overall image processing.

And speaking of image processing, stay tuned for my full in-depth review where I’ll dive in deeper to test out these cameras further.

Other features mentioned are in the accessibility settings like Live Transcribe, Magnifier in the app, and TalkBack where the screen tells you when you’re touching the phone.

Galaxy Watch 6 & Watch 6 Classic

Now, let’s move on to the new watch lineup. The rotating bezel is back, my friend! With the new Watch 6 Classic replacing the Watch 4 Classic, and Samsung’s main intention for these two devices is to be the most complete smartwatch, and yes, it really is!

Now, the main highlights are the electrocardiogram (ECG), blood pressure, body composition, and a personalized heart rate zone.

This body composition is the only watch that has it, where the watch will measure your weight, skeletal mass, fat, and BMI to give you a better understanding of your body and how you can improve it.

Then there’s a personalized heart rate zone where the watch tracks your own heart rate to let you know if you’re working out at your maximum potential based on the heart rate, whether or not it’s just warming up, fat burning, or the cardio zone.

Then Samsung is also focusing on your sleeping habits, which is something that I hardly have, and wants you to understand your sleep better with more in-depth patterns and to even have a sleep coach.

The watches are 20% larger and have a wider and brighter screen. Batteries are also bigger too, but not everything is bigger because the bezels are 30% slimmer, and the rotating bezels are 15% thinner

Then a major improvement is the new One-Click Band. Now, this is really amazing because with a single click of a button, you can get the watch band to be released very quickly. Now, the good news is that these bands are compatible with Watch 4 Series or later, so it’s not only good news for Watch 6 users.

Then, app wise, there is the Samsung Wallet, the camera controller to control the phone’s camera, Find My Phone, and also support for other third-party apps as well.

Then, as for the watch sizes, there’s the 43mm and 47mm for the Classic, and as for the Watch 6, there is the 40mm and 44mm.

Galaxy Tab S9, S9+ & S9 Ultra

And last but not least is the updated Galaxy Tabs. And the good news is that all three versions of these tablets will be having the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processors, the Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen that are 120Hz, and also comes with the S Pen. So there’s no discrimination when it comes to the size of the tablet, which is very great to know.

There’s the enhanced eye comfort mode and the eye care display, where there’s 70% less blue light in light mode and 78% less blue light in dark mode.

Now, this uses an intelligent outdoor algorithm that automatically adjusts the brightness according to the outside environment for way better visibility between 50,000 to 100,000 Lux.

Then all of the variants are IP68 water and dust resistant rated, which is the first flagship consumer tablet which has such a rating, and so is the S Pen too.

Now on the software side, it is also shipped with the latest One UI 5.1.1. Now you can also control your phone directly inside of the tablet as well. Then apps like Lumafusion and GoodNotes are also readily available on the tablet.

Now when it comes to the options to purchase, it is great that every single variant comes with the S Pen, as mentioned earlier, but it also includes an option with or without the keyboards. So whether you’re going for the 11-inch Tab S9, the 12.4-inch Tab S9+, and a huge Tab S9 Ultra that comes with a 14.6 inches, the choice is totally up to you, since there are so many options when it comes to the screen sizes.

Conclusion

So there you have it, seven brand-new devices from Samsung. I would like to know, out of all of these products, which one excites you the most? Or are you planning to get all of them?
