Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Confirmed, Release Expected in July

Samsung is gearing up to launch a new high-end smartwatch, and it looks like it won’t be part of the existing Galaxy Watch 7 lineup. Regulatory filings from the United Arab Emirates’ Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) confirm the existence of a “Galaxy Watch Ultra” with model number SM-L705F. This aligns with a similar filing in the US via the FCC.

What the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Leak Entails

The interesting bit here is the “Ultra” moniker. For months, rumours have swirled about a “Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra”. This suggests that it would be part of the existing Galaxy Watch series. The official filing omits the “7,” however. This could mean that Samsung might be creating a separate line of Ultra watches. This approach is similar to what Apple did with its Apple Watch Ultra. This makes sense considering leaked images of the Ultra show a distinct design compared to the standard Watch 7. The Ultra is also expected to boast advanced features not found in the other watches.

Another curious detail from the filings is the charging speed. The Ultra is listed with a 10W charging speed. This speed is slower than the rumoured charging speed for the Watch 7 series. It’s also the same speed as the Watch 6 series. Traditionally, an Ultra model would be expected to charge faster than its non-Ultra counterparts. So, this spec is a bit puzzling.

Despite the unanswered questions about charging speed, all signs point towards a 10th July launch date for Samsung’s new line of watches. With an official announcement likely on the horizon, we can expect more details about the Galaxy Watch Ultra and other upcoming Samsung wearables in the coming weeks.
