Four months doesn’t sound like a lot but it feels like an eternity in the smartphone industry. Ask Samsung. They delayed their much-anticipated Galaxy Fold back in May after early review units showed issues.
Now the Galaxy Fold will finally make its debut in South Korea. The smartphone will then be sold in other countries around the world including the UK, US, France, Germany, Singapore and more.
For a quick refresher, the Galaxy Fold boasts a flexible and foldable 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED display. The display actually folds inwards, hence living up to its namesake. A smaller 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display acts as your primary method of viewing when it is closed.
While the hardware largely remains the same in the Galaxy Fold, Samsung has made sure to make some corrective changes including a different kind of protective layer under the main display, that is more obvious that it should not be peeled off. The other major change is in the hinges, which now have additional protection caps to prevent dust from entering.
There will be an LTE model as well as a 5G ready model. There is still no word when the phone will officially come to Malaysia but it is largely speculated that it will carry an RM8,000 price tag.
