Hey guys, Adam Lobo here from Adam Lobo TV! In this article, I will be giving the unboxing and my full review of the XROUND VERSA True Wireless Earphones.
Stay till the end, as I am planning to give one away to you as well!
(article continues after the video)
Unboxing
Now the unboxing experience was a very interesting experience. The box comes in black, with the visuals of the earbuds in front and VERSA towards to bottom left.
Then at the back, there are some of the many features for the VERSA written over there like the Titanium Coated drivers, battery life and many more.
Then at the side of the box, you will find more features as well, like its Bluetooth 5, IP67 rating, SpinFit and the Qualcomm aptX as well.
So what’s cool and I have to say that I love the attention to detail that XROUND did, on the opening experience of the box, where once you slide it open, you can see a nice little waveform that literally has an animated feel to it and it is apparently the exact waveform structure of someone saying “XROUND”. Nice!
Inside the box, you will find the Warranty Card and the Quick Start Guide.
Underneath, towards the left side, you will find the Earfins with different sizes and the USB-A to USB-C cable.
Then towards the right side, you will find not one, but two types of the ear tips – one is the Noise Isolation ear tips and the other is the Spinfit silicone ear tips, which also comes in different sizes too.
And right in the middle, there is the earbuds charging case, with the earbuds inside. Then underneath that, there is the User Guide Manual.
Now, for those if you haven’t heard of XROUND before, they were founded by a group of audiophiles, with expertise in audio engineering and sound tuning in Taiwan and has successfully launched in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, and many other countries in the past 4 years. And now finally, XROUND has arrived in Malaysia from year 2020 onwards.
Build Quality
First, let’s look at the build quality.
Looking at the charging case itself, my first impressions were how extremely light it felt, at ONLY 48.9 grams WITH the earbuds inside and a mere 38.9 grams without the earbuds.
It comes with a plastic clamp shell built, with a nice compact form factor with a matte finish, which I have always mentioned before that it is my preferred option compared to glossy casings, as it makes the earbuds easier to grip and not as slippery as the glossy ones.
Then charging the case is charged through a USB-C port at the back, and of course to charge the earbuds and also the charging case, at the same time.
Opening the charging case didn’t feel like it was “cheap”, as you will need to put just a little more force into it, which was nice as it avoids situations where the cover might open up by itself.
The hinges did feel a bit on a softer side, so I would be a bit cautious when you are opening the earbuds’ case.
Then the magnets that connect with the charging pin is quite strong, so it won’t come off even when it turned upside down, even with much force, as you guys can see.
Then as for the earbuds itself, it is made of plastic to keep the earbuds nice and light which also has a matte finish, with an interesting ridge style groove on it as well. And it weighs about 5 grams each together with the ear tips and the ear fins on.
And speaking of the ear fins, I have to say that I love how the ear fins are fitted in flushed into the earbuds, so chances of it being loose or coming out are almost impossible, which most other earbuds, including premium ones, tend to do so. So, that is a huge plus over here.
The VERSA is IP67 Dust and Water Resistant, which is such a bonus feature considering the price that XROUND offers.
And based on me listening to music casually or while working out was great, I have been using the earbuds together with the silicone ear tips, since listening to music is extremely crucial for me when I am working out every day.
The overall fitting of the earbuds with the standard medium-sized ear fins that comes in the package together with the medium-sized eartips fitted in my ears very snuggly, with the ergonomically designed ear fins, and also the patented ear tips.
Now the reason why I talk about the fit of the earbuds especially on which ear tips fits me best is because I have to stress to you all about the importance of getting the right fit. If the ear tips that you choose doesn’t entirely fit in your ears, it not only affects the comfort but also on the sound quality as well.
So this very important whether or not you are using the earbuds while working out, or even long hours in office, or having a Work From Home situations, where THIS does indeed play a huge role.
Pairing
So the initial pairing process is super simple. It has Bluetooth 5.0 and it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, where it will immediately go into pairing mode, as soon as you take out the earbuds from the charging case. In your phone, you will find “XROUND VERSA” in your Bluetooth menu on your phone and you are instantly paired.
Then, in the future, it pairs to your phone immediately.
Now just in case, you want to pair the earbuds to maybe another phone, your PC or laptop, just press and hold the button in the middle on both earbuds for about 3 seconds to re-initiate pairing.
Playback Controls
As for the playback controls, it is all done by pressing the button on the earbuds again where these touch controls, or press controls, works both for music and also during call mode.
So under a music playback, first, clicking once play and pauses the track.
Pressing the Left earbuds twice goes to the next track.
Pressing the Left earbuds again three times goes to the previous track again.
And what’s cool is that there are also volume controls on the earbuds as well, where even more expensive options don’t have that feature. To decrease the volume, press the right earbuds twice and pressing it 3 times increases the volume.
Then looking at the control options when on a phone call, it is pretty straightforward where a single click will Answer or Hang up a call and double-clicking will reject a call.
Sound Quality
Let’s now talk about the overall sound quality.
The XROUND VERSA has a 6mm Waterproof titanium-coated speaker driver, as mention on the box it has Qualcomm’s Triple-Core Chipset with APTX support to ensure high-quality audio playback.
So I have gone through many tests on the earbuds for the past two and a half weeks, by listening to different genres of music.
Overall, I can say, the sound quality was really good indeed, with such a small form factor I was quite surprised by the overall output volume that the earbuds gave. The overall mids and lower-end sounded nicely, making it a satisfying music listening experience using these earbuds. It reduces noise audio interference and displays very accurately and clear overall distinct sound quality.
Now, if we had to go a bit technical on how XROUND has managed to achieve this, it was done through XROUND’s 3D Acoustic Tech where it adjusts the sound reverberation through a 3D Cumulative Spectral Decay also known as CSD, to give you a more optimised sound using the Qualcomm Kalimba digital processor.
I am also happy to note that there was no latency when watching videos on YouTube and watching Netflix.
There were no apparent latency issues that I have realised when I was playing games but as usual, I would not recommend using wireless earbuds during highly competitive gameplay but it is totally fine if you are just a casual gamer like me.
Microphone Quality
In terms of the earbuds’ call quality on the microphones. Firstly, it has 2 MEMS, which are Micro-Electro-Mechanical System mics.
There is additional noise reduction for both sides, where it worked very well during a windy and a noisy environment, to have an audio frequency range about 16 kilohertz or so. Here is a microphone test for different environments!
Battery
As for the battery, I got an average of 8 hours and 13 minutes of battery on earbuds itself with 100 per cent volume and about 32 plus hours on the case, which is higher than what XROUND claims, which was nice.
What’s extra sweet is that other than using the USB-C port to charge the earbuds case, you can also charge it wirelessly as well. XROUND has the optional wireless charger, which is sold separately and speaking of additional accessories, you can also get the cool little carry case specifically for this XROUND VERSA too, to give you further protection for the earbuds’ case and of course to easily bring it on the go as well.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I have to be honest to say that I was a little sceptical about my experience with these earbuds, especially since this is my very first time reviewing these earbuds in this channel, but I am happy to note that my overall experience with the earbuds when it comes to having Zoom video call meetings, casually listening to music and most of all, having reliable earbuds when working out.
And with this, all I have to say is this, as a consumer, it’s always nice that we have more options when it comes to earbuds, especially within the price range that XROUND offers.
The XROUND VERSA is priced at a great price of only RM399 and I will leave links down below for you guys to get yourself one, especially on the additional accessories available as mentioned earlier as well.
