Despite Huawei’s best efforts, the leaks to their new Watch GT 2 just keep coming. Announced alongside the highly anticipated though troubled Mate 30 Pro, the Watch GT 2 carries many improvements over the original.
But where to begin? Well, let’s start with the fact that out of the door the Watch GT 2 is said to boast improved battery life that lasts weeks instead of days, much better compared to many watches of today.
Huawei is also offering users choice as the Watch GT 2 comes in two sizes, a larger and beefier 46mm version with a 1.39-inch OLED and 22mm strap and a smaller 42mm version with a 1.2-inch OLED and 20mm strap for those with smaller hands.
Huawei claims that the 46mm variant has the capability to last up to two weeks while the 42mm version is able to last half that time. Though of course, your mileage with the watch will vary depending if you playback music a lot or perform a lot of exercising tracking, that may affect overall battery life.
Underneath the hood, the Watch GT 2 will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin A1 chipset, which is the main factor behind the smartwatch’s superb battery life while Bluetooth 5.1 improves connectivity.
Don’t want to be appear rude by raising your hand to check the time on your watch? There is an always-on mode that allows you keep time without that awkward gesture.
At the time of writing there is no word on the local pricing or availability but Huawei stated that the 46mm and 42mm versions of the watch will go on sale in select markets for €249 (RM1,140) and €229 (RM1,048) respectively.
UPDATE: The 46mm variant of the Huawei Watch GT2 is now available in Malaysia for RM799.
