WHOA! Everything You NEED to know about Apple WWDC 2022! Straight from Apple Park! 🍎

Hey what’s up? Adam Lobo here from Adam Lobo TV, coming straight after WWDC 2022 at Apple Park. Now, as mentioned in my previous video, I gave my live experience on IG Stories (@adamlob0) , so thank you so much for checking that out, and for those of you who have missed “dub dub 2022” (WWDC 2022) or want a quick recap of the things that happened during the event, here are my key favorite things that you need to know from a software and also a surprise hardware announcements as well.

iOS 16

Lock Screen

First is the brand-new Lock Screen. This is definitely one of the best updates ever, where Apple has really delivered here; we got an all-new lock screen, which kind of reminded me of how the watch faces were on the Apple Watch.

You can customize the colors, the photos, the font and blend in with photos. And I also love how you can place widgets on the lock screen too, which is something totally unique, which no other smartphone has done such integration.

Focus Mode

Then Focus Mode also connects to the lock screen, where you will be able to customize different focus modes with wallpapers and widgets, where you change between these modes.

iCloud Shared Photo Library

Then there is also the iCloud Shared Photo Library which allows you to share photos seamlessly with your family or anyone that has an iCloud photos shared with you, including access to add, delete, edit and also favorite the shared photo or videos.

Messages App

Now, I did mention in my previous video that I have been using the Messages app more recently, and there was a huge surprise for me and everyone as well, where you can now unsend and even edit messages, which gives you more reasons to use the Messages app if you haven’t been using it. Totally a huge and a solid update!

Home App

Then the smart home or the Home app has been redesigned, with better placements of the icons and widgets to control the Homekit compatible devices, which looks pretty sweet.

CarPlay

Then the new CarPlay is hands down the best UI I have ever seen, where not only does it look totally stunning, but it deeply integrates with the car’s hardware, like controlling the radio, the temperature, and more, and we will be seeing more dedicated car manufacturer having this, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Fitness App

Another interesting update is how the Fitness App will be available for iOS 16 too, so if you haven’t had the Apple Watch yet, which I think you should, you can track your move, steps, and distance metrics. And that for me is totally sweet and it may be an excellent way for you to be as obsessed like how I am on closing my rings and get the Apple Watch next!

watchOS9

Speaking of the Apple Watch, here is what’s new on the watchOS9.

Advanced Tracking

Firstly, there is even further tracking for workouts like heart rate zones, elevation, and so much more compared to the previous watchOS versions, especially if you love to run, there are tons of new features, which is available to fully track your running that even lets you know if you are running properly by tracking your overall body movement when running. So that was quite an update!

Medications

Then there is the medications reminder, which I am sure that I am not the only one who forgets to take my supplements if you don’t take meds everyday, and this would be totally awesome not only to remind you to take your meds, but also for supplements as I’ve mentioned. And it would be also extremely useful for other older adults to remember to take their meds as well as you can also scan the medicine and pill bottles on the iPhone and set the frequency and alerts when you need them.

Sleep Insights

Then another important update is of course the Sleep tracking, where there are more insights by detecting the REM, core, or deep sleep, and we are able to see more detailed information like heart rate and respiratory rate and also compare the charts of our daily apps on the Health app on the iPhone as well.

Other updates

Then, of course, there are other usual updates like new watch faces, which have one of the most vibrant watch faces, so I can’t wait to try them out.

iPadOS 16

Stage Manager

Then as for iPadOS 16, there is Stage Manager, which allows you to see apps on the side, where you can finally rearrange things way easily, and also resizing windows on the iPad, to give you that almost Mac-like experience on the iPad, and there is also external display support as well.

Collaboration

Then there are lots of live collaboration modes that allow you to collaborate on documents online in real time.

Live Text & Visual Look Up

And now Live Text is not only available on photos or pictures that you have on your phone, but it also works on video, making text completely easy to copy when you pause on a video frame. Then, Visual Look Up also now allows you to lift up a subject from an image and remove the background easily compared to putting it on a photo editing app.

macOS Ventura

Next is the macOS Ventura, which is what the latest macOS software is called, and not Mammoth as the leaks and rumors suggested, and here is where there is also super cool updates for this latest version of macOS, where other than the similar updates to all the iOS updates mentioned earlier, there is also Stage Manager for this Mac too.

And using the Stage Manager on a Mac reminds me of an updated version of mission control, which I always use when I use my MacBook Pro.

Then the native Mail has very similar features to undo send, schedule send, follow up, and also add rich links too.

Then the System Preference App was also redesigned as predicted, which looks way cleaner, and it’s also like a hybrid between an iOS and also a Mac design from the looks of things.

And my ultimate favorite latest feature is using the iPhone as a webcam! Where Apple calls it the Continuity Camera, where you will be able to clip your iPhone on your MacBook Pro, and you can connect your iPhone’s camera wirelessly to your Mac, which dramatically improves the quality of your video calls.

On top of that, there is an additional feature where you can even get top-down shots without having your phone placed in a top-down position, so this was really mind-blowing for me; so I am really looking forward to trying this and seeing how it actually works!

All right, now that we have got all of the software updates, here comes the hardware updates!

Apple M2 Chipset

Yes, as predicted, the M2 chip is here! It has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, it is overall 18% faster than the M1 chipset, and the GPU is 35% faster, and I find it super cool that this “base” M2 Chip has such great performance, especially on the GPU’s capabilities as well.

The media engine on the M2 includes a video encode that supports 8K H.264 and HEVC video, and of course, the powerful ProRes video engine enables playback of multiple streams of both 4k and 8k video.

MacBook Air 2022

So first of the two devices that Apple will include in the M2 chip is the newly redesigned MacBook Air, which looks stunning in real life; and I am planning to do another separate video on my first impressions on it since I’ve got my quick hands on experience at the Steve Job’s theater at Apple Park right after the event, which I had to wait for Marques of MKBHD to finish shooting before I could get myself in shooting it.

But here are the quick specs, as it now features MagSafe, and there is no white bezels as the leaks suggested, so it is a similar style to the latest MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inches, and there are four color options.

It also has a 13.6-inch display instead of the 13.3 on the previous model, a 1080p webcam in front where it has a very thin and light design laptop that we have always loved and still being completely fanless as well.

MacBook Pro 13 inch with Touch Bar

Then another surprise announcement was the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is similar to the previous Intel version but now with the M2 chipset of course, and speaking of that, it also comes with the same Touch Bar, so for some of you who have been saying that you missed the Touch Bar, well, here it is!

While you can expect the same M2 performance, you will also find an active cooling system on the MacBook Pro compared to the MacBook Air of course.

Alright guys, so those are my key things that you need to know about WWDC 2022, do expect more video coverage on WWDC coming very soon in this channel, and of course do let me know what your favorite features are in the comments section of my YouTube video, and let’s discuss it over there!
