Honor just had an event and announced so many interesting products so this is your one stop shop to everything that happened.
HONOR 9X
Honor just launched the much anticipated Honor 9X at their event in Kuala Lumpur today. Honor has always been known for releasing phones that have flagship level specs for a low price and the Honor 9X continues this trend. The phone has a very premium design with an all glass and metal unibody with what Honor is calling, their Dynamic X Design. The phone also has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and if previous Honor phones are to be taken as precedent, it is safe to say that this is going to be a really fast scanner.
The specs of the phone are pretty high end as it comes with the Kirin 710F chipset which is built on the 12nm process, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with up expandable storage up to 512GB. In terms of the display, the phone has a stunning display. It is a full screen design with a very minimal chin and has a whopping 91% screen to body ratio. It comes with a huge 6.59-inch 1080p IPS-LCD display and the all screen design makes it look absolutely stunning. Due to the all screen design, the front facing selfie camera cannot be found at the front of the phone as Honor have decided to goo with a pop-up selfie camera, similar as to what you would find on the OnePlus 7 Pro.
Speaking of cameras, the phone is equipped with 3 rear cameras. The first is a 48-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, next is an 8-megapixel 120-degree super wide-angle camera with an f/2.4 aperture and lastly is a 2-megapixel f/2.4 aperture depth sensor to assist with the bokeh effect. Honor also showed off the AIS Super Night Mode that is now available on the Honor 9X. The front facing sensor as mentioned before is a 16-megapixel f/2.2 aperture pop-up camera which includes 3D portrait lighting as well. In terms of video, the rear cameras support up to 1080p at 60fps while the front facing camera supports video of up to 1080p at 30fps. It is important to note that the AI Video Stabilization feature is only available on video of up to 720p. The phone also comes equipped with a 4000 mAh battery and with a 1080p display, which only after my testing would I be able to determine if it really is the “all-day” battery Honor claims it is. Taking a step in the right direction,
Honor has finally included a USB Type-C port in the phone. The phone will be launched in two different colours which include, Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue for a starting price of only RM999 which in my opinion at first glance seems like a steal! Pre-order will start tomorrow till the 27th of November 2019 on Lazada and HiHonor.com.
Honor Band 5 and Honor Band 5 Sport
Honor also announced the Honor Band 5 at the event. The Band 5 comes with a 0.95-inch AMOLED colour screen with a resolution of 240×120. The touch screen is a 2.5D curved screen and the band as a whole is made from silica gel which has a sort of stylish pattern to it. Upon holding it, the Band 5 felt extremely light and compact which in my opinion is a major advantage. Honor says the Band 5 can last up to 14 days under “normal use” and 9 days with their TruSleep feature turned on. If this proves to be true, then this band already has really good battery life. Honor as also added a bunch of new health features with this band including night infrared heart monitoring and even heart rate alerts when your heart rate goes above the limit. The Honor Band 5 will be launched in Meteorite Black, Classic Navy Blue, Dahlia Pink as well as the new Olive Green for only RM129.
The Honor Band 5 Sport was announced alongside the Honor Band 5. The sport variant does away with the color screen but still keeps the same type of smartwatch functions the Band 5 has. The Band also has a new type of colorful strap design. As it is aimed at athletes, the Band 5 Sport has a footwear mode. This mode allows you to put the band around your shoe as it has a 6-axis motion tracking sensor. This allows the band to understand your jumps and movements which Honor says will help reduce injuries when carrying out sports activities. The Honor Band 5 will launch at only RM79.
Honor Sport Pro
The Honor Sport Pro is Honors new wireless earphones. The earbuds have a neckband which in theory would make it easier when running as it prevents it from falling off. The earphones use Bluetooth 5.0 to connect to your phone and will charge using USB Type-C. What is cool is that you can charge your Honor Sport Pro directly through the type-c port on your phone as there is a type-c connector on the earphones itself. Honor has also equipped the earbuds with fast charging as they say you would be able to get 4 hours of listening time from just a 5-minute charge. From a full charge, your can get about 18 hours of playback time which is pretty impressive. Honor also said that these earbuds have less than 100ms of latency which is really cool as it has a lower latency than some really high-end earphones. They even have the feature where magnetically sticking the earbuds together would play and pause your music. The Honor Sport Pro will come in Silver, Red and Blue and start at only RM299 which is really affordable compared to come other Bluetooth earbuds out right now.
Extras
It should also be noted that Honor stated their MagicBook laptop and Honor Magic Watch 2 will be launching in Malaysia within the next couple of months and no further details were given as they have been kept very tightly knit so keep your eyes peeled for that.
