Sony has unveiled the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G, a compact and lightweight zoom lens designed for their full-frame E-mount mirrorless cameras. This offering aims to balance portability with image quality and video capabilities, making it a potential contender for photographers and videographers alike.

Measuring a mere 92.3mm and weighing approximately 440g, the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G sheds the bulk typically associated with full-frame zoom lenses. This portability makes it ideal for travel, everyday carry, or situations where manoeuvrability is key.
Despite its compact size, the lens promises high-resolution performance. Aspherical and ED elements aim to minimise aberrations, delivering edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the 24-50mm zoom range. Additionally, the constant F2.8 aperture allows for creative control over depth of field and subject isolation, while the 11-blade circular aperture contributes to smooth and pleasing bokeh effects.
Two linear motors power the autofocus system, ensuring fast, accurate, and quiet focusing – a boon for both still and video capture.
